Who: Mikaela and Sam
What: Mikaela decides it's time to corner Sam and talk to him.
Where: Zone 5, Autobot Base
Summary: Basically, Sam has been acting odd ever since his and Ironhide's chat. Mikaela's noticed this, and while she's asked him about it, he hasn't told her. Well, it's time to FESS UP.

He didn't protect when Mikaela found him and he willingly allowed himself to be dragged up the stairs. When the door locked, a shy smile slowly crawled on his face.

But then she spoke and the smile was gone and he was gnawing on the bottom of his lip.

"About what?" Sam knew what she was talking about. It was obvious, what else could she be-- well, she could be talking about the girl he met but Sam thought they worked it out. Right?

"About how you've been acting so weird." She fluffs her hair with a small sigh. "You...you've kinda been avoiding me a little, and I know you're a guy and you need your space and all and I totally respect you and your privacy, you know that..." She sighed, and rested her hands on her hips.

"But I want to know what's wrong. I'd really, really like it if you told me, Sam." She'd feel a little better about their relationship, too. She's still smarting about that second kiss.

"Avoiding?" Sam scratched his face. It wasn't that he was... avoiding her but he didn't want her to worry as he tried to.. work certain things out. He was trying to change without letting them know anything was wrong.

But Mikaela's reaction...

He never expected to fail at this sort of thing. Didn't expect it to be noticeable. And he didn't want to lie to his girlfriend, either. "I swear, it's nothing." If he had to, he'd stall just a bit while his mind tried to figure out how to tell her.

"Sam..." She looks extremely frustrated, and she turns her back on him, leaning her head against her hand with a frustrated sound.

"Please." She doesn't know what else to say to get him to actually talk to her. She doesn't want to give up, though. It's not in her nature.

Uh oh.

She was mad at him. "Come on, don't-- fine." He sighed, releasing the air slowly and gnawed on his lower lip. "Okay, I just-- had a talk with someone and I've just been thinking about it. See? Everything is fine."

"A talk with someone." Mikaela rubbed her forehead,then pouted at him, giving him her best kicked puppy look.

"Who? What happened?"

"With Ironhide." It was that look. He wasn't going to say names until he saw that look. Oh man, was she good at getting information. Then again-- look at what she did to Wheelie.

"'Hide?" Mikaela blinked in surprise, then her brow furrowed. "What...what'd he say? When was this?" She's giving him that same look she gave Wheelie; the same pleading, sweet, and innocent look she'd used on the small scrap drone was now being used on her boyfriend.

He took a step back when the look didn't leave. She continued to give it to him and he was falling victim to it. "Back when Ratchet was in the hospital. I-I forgot something and I saw him. But we just-- talked about some-- stuff."

"Baby, just talking about 'some stuff' shouldn't make you act like...you have been." She closes the gap and takes his hands. There is no escape from her, Sam. Oh, and she's still giving him the look.

"What kind of 'stuff' did you guys discuss?"

His response was only a long line of silence. This was a lot harder than it sounded. Just tell her-- he told himself. But every time he opened his mouth, the words never formed correctly and when they did, he couldn't exactly spit them out.

"Um-- well-- we talked about Ratchet. And-- I-I brought something up and I didn't realize-- He was in stasis lock and that's what happened to--"

Mikaela understands this, and while she's not going to stop looking at him like that, she is going to give him the time he needs to talk to her about this. She has all day.

"...Optimus?" She guessed softly. She gave him an encouraging look. Keep going, Sam.

Part of him hoped that maybe she'd let it slide. Of course, his luck was never that great.

And when she guessed right, Sam could only nod. "We-- Hide said something and then--" Another pause. He couldn't say it. Not directly anyway. So he wiggled his hand out of hers and pulled her into a hug.

"Remember when I said I'd fix it? I don't think I did- even with Optimus back. So I-I'm still gonna try. I have to make it right. I don't know how I'm gonna do it but-- maybe if Major Lennox helps then I'll find a way?"

She had already let it slide once. She wasn't going to do it again.

She's trying her best to piece together the things that he is telling her, and when he pulls her into a hug she rests her cheek against his shoulder, holding him tight.

"I remember." She frowns into his shoulder, then swallows the lump in her throat. "Th-that's what you and 'Hide talked about? Sam..."

"I don't blame him for-- Optimus came back to save me even after I told him th-that I just wanted a normal life. I could have done something, Mikaela. I could have listened to Optimus a-and if I did? Then he wouldn't have-- you know."

Ah. It's beginning to become a little clearer to her now.

"Sam..." She tightens her grip on him. "There's no way you could have known what was going to happen." She didn't want to continue pushing him, but...she can't help it.

"And Ironhide...what did he say to you?"
