Kitt hadn't stopped searching despite the call to Zone 7. He had no intention to get in an all-out battle with the Decepticons. He had confidence in his new weaponry, but he did not have confidence in his shell to withstand a strike from one of those weapons - and he didn't want to test it just yet. He hadn't yet found Mikaela.
And that was his priority.
Instead of continuing up, as it seemed the upper levels were well-covered, Kitt had changed directions and gone down. And then, there it was. A flickering. Almost a sensor-ghost. There, and then not. That was it.
He focused on that location, as general as it was. That had to be where Mikaela was being held.

The black Mustang pressed his speed as fast as he dared - he had been conserving fuel. Not anymore.
