Even Soundwave's patience had a limit.

He'd done as he was asked -- hidden the alternate Starscream's trail from prying optics. But now, he felt he had given the other Decepticon enough time to hide. Enough time alone.

Soundwave wanted his pawns. Wanted every piece at his clawed fingertips. Starscream was one he'd kept the longest so far. The one who knew his place the best. And so, he'd gone hunting.

Those brief allowances onto the network were enough to track him. In only minutes, the satellite was touching down outside Starscream's location. He didn't so much as knock. He strode in, scanning for any signs of life.

Starscream wasn't exactly hiding within the building. He figured the location itself was safe enough.

And he figured Soundwave would keep anyone from finding out where he was. The satellite was good for that.

He didn't, however, expect Soundwave to come to him. Starscream instantly raised an arm at the direction Soundwave was coming from.

And then had a look of embarrassment as he realized that arm currently didn't have an arm cannon attached. He still needed to rebuild a replacement.

"Skywarp, that better be you." Though he had doubts. Skywarp usually (and annoyingly) popped up right near him.

It would have been the perfect hideout, if Soundwave hadn't been actively seeking the jet. When he really wanted to find something, few had the capacity to keep him out.

The voice only helped. And the sudden feeling -- embarrassment? -- that went with it. They only served to pinpoint Starscream's location. So that's where Soundwave went, following the sensation, and the voice.

"NEGATIVE. SKYWARP: IS NOT PRESENT."

Oh Primus it was Soundwave.

Starscream lowered his other arm and shifted slightly uncomfortably where he was sitting. Of all the mechs ...

"I didn't think you were the type to make house calls, Soundwave. If this is a check up, I assure you I'm fine. I was going to have Skywarp contact you, but I guess I got distracted."

That was only partly true. He was going to make Skywarp give some sort of report than directly dealing with the satellite himself. He was also doing his best to remain relatively normal. As he didn't want to give off any other sort of appearance.

Soundwave would probably always unnerve him. Just the thought of those tentacles? cables? Whatever made him uneasy.

The satellite loomed into view. Honestly, Soundwave didn't really try to make dramatic entrances. He just sort of stumbled into them by chance every once in a while. This time, he was looming in an open doorway, the light from the hall casting him in a rather threatening silhouette.

Whoops.

"RADIO SILENCE: IS UNLIKE STARSCREAM. INVESTIGATIVE MEASURES: REQUIRED."

He paced inside, his fins flicking across his back. He stopped a few feet away, studying the jet with a tilted head. Starscream... felt uneasy. Unnerved. The new sensors the Transtechs had given him could pick up that much.

"ABSENCE: HAS BEEN NOTED."

Starscream always expected Soundwave to be creepy anyway, so the looming was actually not as surprising as it should have been. You know, to any sane person.

"I just haven't seen anything interesting to comment on. I don't always spend all day on the network."

Only he did, and Starscream normally loved to hear himself talk. And generally terrorize people. Or both at the same time.

He was mentally trying to will Soundwave to leave. If omonly he actually had telepathic powers or something.

"Look, if Skywarp has done something stupid or annoying, just threaten him. He'll stop and go away. Usually."

Yes. Change the subject away from himself. Sorry Skywarp, you are the easiest scapegoat right now.

Soundwave only shifted closer. The rant passed through his audio receptors, only half-processing. He just stood there, waiting, until Starscream was done speaking. Granted, he could have continued going off of the vague sensations from proximity, but it seemed Starscream was determined not to tell him anything particularly important.

So he reached out, extending a hand to Starscream. As he did so, the cables extended, coiling around his arm, before waving slowly in the jet's direction.

"SCAN: WILL COMMENCE."

Apparently he still lacked the mind powers to cause things to happen since Soundwave moved towards him and wasn't lookingblike he was going to leave at all.

The Seeker shifted slightly and almost completely toppled off his seat when the cables appeared. That was the last thing he wanted. He already had someone messing with him by force. He was not about to go through it with Soundwave too.

He managed to a stand, but had backed up a bit. He was doing his best to just not panic at the situation all together.

"No, no. I told you. I'm fine. No scans required. You can leave now. Really."

"STARSCREAM: VANISHED FOR THREE DAYS. RETURNED IN: IMPROPER ORDER. SCANS: ARE NECESSARY."

Soundwave didn't so much as slow his advance. He simply allowed the cables to continue unfolding, until they could come into contact with Starscream's plating.

"DEADLY MODIFICATION: POSSIBLE. ALLIANCE: IS THREATENED. THREAT: MUST BE DETECTED."

The cables did, however, stop just short of actually touching Starscream. But he refused to retract them.

Starscream sort of tried to hold his ground, but ended up backing up more until he was against the wall. He really hated those cables.

"I already did enough scans. There's no threat, I assure you. Why don't go you find someone else to wrap those around since there's no reason here. Really. There's not. And you can leave at any time."

This almost reminded him of the times when he's try to talk Megatron out of blasting his head off. Only it was stop Soundwave from hacking his brain this time. He made a mental note before that he wasn't going to let the creeperllite jack in again. It was unpleasant enough last time for him.

"SOUNDWAVE: WILL BE THE JUDGE OF THAT. VIRAL SCANS: SUPERIOR TO STARSCREAM'S."

He lashed out with one hand, moving to grab one of the jet's shoulders, and hold him steady. It wasn't out of any real concern that he wanted to run scans. Just a need to keep his puppets in working order.

If Starscream were damaged, it impeded his ability to work. And that made him useless to Soundwave.

Which the satellite certainly couldn't have.

Oh. Starscream would have made a break for it, but Soundwave had to go and put his hand there. So he tried to think of a different escape route.

Unfortunately he couldn't melt through the wall either.

"Can't we discuss this? Really. You don't have to do this. I'm fine. There's nothing wrong. I assure you."

Starscream was really starting to regret (for a second time) this alliance. Sure Soundwave was extremely useful. But then he did things like this. And sometimes he wondered if the pros still our weighed the cons.

Clawed fingers tightened their grip. As useful as this Starscream was, he was still a Starscream -- with all the lies that came with it. Assurances from a Starscream meant little to Soundwave.

He leaned in closer, peering right in Starscream's face. The cabling continued to snake down the satellite's arm, but still hovered an inch or so away from the other Decepticon.

"SOUNDWAVE: INSISTS."

"Yeah well, Starscream insists that you back off.

In hindsight it was probably a bad idea to place his hands on Soundwave and attempt to push him away. There already were cables lingering really close. So yes, bad idea.

But he really didn't want to experience Soubdwave tearing into hos processor again. Because that? Highly unpleasant. He considered agreeing just to a scan ... But letting the satellite in was just asking for trouble.

The only other option would be to beg ...

But this was just unpleasant, not really life threatening or horribly torturous.

Really he was kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. Or a wall and a Soundwave.

It was a bad idea.

When Starscream's hands came up, knocking into the cables, the filaments latched on. They started crawling up the jet's plating, looking for access to his systems. The proximity brought with it a rush of sensory data that wasn't his own -- those emotions that were so utterly alien to Soundwave.

A wave of don't want this was rolling though his processor, even as the cables searched for an entry. His optics dimmed, fins flaring out behind his back.

Yes...

He urged his cabling to continue, tilting his head enough to look Starscream in the optics. "SOUNDWAVE'S INSISTENCE: SUPERIOR. BEGGING: WILL GET YOU NOWHERE."

Oh when the cables latched on, Starscream tried to jerk his hands away. Soundwave repeating what he was thinking made it even worse. A wave of panic rushed over him and he desperately tried to calm himself.

As unpleasant as it was before, Soundwave hadn't exactly harmed him really.

"Can you do that without ripping through my systems? I don't think I've done anything to warrant you tearing into my armor. Just saying."

He tried to keep hos voice as even as possible, but that was proving to be slightly difficult.
