[[Mostly not Locked.]]

I have received a response and accepted an offer today from Hyrule Enterprises Technology Corp--Or 'Hye-tech,' for those of you familiar with the inter-city transwarp transport stations. I begin next week and the work is intensive, so I may be difficult to reach ( Read more... )

I'm surprised you actually want to take a break. You always were the type to get so lost in your work that you never even noticed what was going on around you.

Medical contagions are not my forte...

Though this has been an informative experience.

[He responds naturally for a few moments, before really realizing who he's talking to.]

You...remember that?

Heh.

I remember a lot of things.

But I should have expected this response. You always did underestimate everything about me or everything I ever did.

I did not think you were still interested in science, Starscream.

You did not seem to pursue it, after I left...

Which was a shame. You were very talented.

Don't patronize me, Jetfire. I have a feeling I will be getting enough of that from Shockwave.

There are very few I would ever consider doing anything science-related with and even less of them are Decepticons.

I focused my energies elsewhere, that is not to say that I lost total interest.

Besides when I first arrived I had to deal with science rambles from another Jetfire. Science haunts me as well sometimes ...

Patronizing you was not my intent, Starscream. You are brilliant, and you did leave the field.

But if science is haunting you, perhaps you ought to indulge? I have not seen much use for fighter planes, here, but there is a call for engineers...

[Starcream makes no comment on what could be considered a compliment.]

....

... And just why would I do that? I'd probably end up on a stupid team somewhere with stupid people I don't like. You should know first hand that I don't do well with others.

And if I do anything on my own, it will be to further my own advancement.

You're very good at putting up with mechs that you don't like, Starscream. I'd almost say that it is a strength of yours, given how long you've been putting up with Megatron...

And if it is just long enough for you to have access to the equipment necessary for you to make your own designs, then you can sell those designs and not have to work with anyone you do not want.

There is another Starscream that seemed to do something similar...I think you would be capable, too.

I believe in you, you know.

Yes, but I'm sure most here would frown upon random assassination attempts those like Megatron have learned to put up with.

But...

[He looks as if he were just given an idea.]

That might not be so bad. My colleagues could always have accidents along the way.

[He looks...appalled.]

Starscream.

That is not an acceptable alternative! They have arenas for those sorts of things...

[And Starscream would just laugh. Sometimes it was too easy.]

What? Well, then I dare you to stop me.

And besides, arena fighting gets boring after awhile.

...I will stop you, if I must.

...

By being your partner. My stipend has an allowance for an assistant, Starscream. Are you interested?

[If Jetfire was going for an attempt to catch Starscream off guard, he succeeded immensely. The Seeker seemed a little taken aback before his expression shifted to neutral in an attempt to regain his composure.]

... Well ...

I suppose someone would have to be around to make sure you don't screw up.

And really who else would put up with your endless science rambling?

Besides, I really don't have much else to do at the moment.

So ... sure?

Promise that I won't undergo any unnecessary accidents?

[He...smiled, just a bit.]

Work begins in three days. [Here are the coordinates!] Meet me here on the eighth iteration of the first day-cycle, and I will show you around.

[He's looking forward to this, actually.]

[Starscream smirked a bit.]

I'll try to refrain from doing anything drastic.

I will ... be there. I'll try to actually be on time, unlike my academy days.

And Jetfire...

[He paused for a moment. ]

... Thank you.

I...appreciate that, Starscream.

[Especially since the smaller jet's attendance would reflect on him. But if he had to pick up Starscream every morning, kicking and screaming, and bring him into work--he would.]

You are...welcome. Though this...is not entirely unselfish.

I'd...just always wondered how far you could have gone, if you'd not given up.
