[She blinks for a few moments...and then realizes that he must be able to see her drawing, and looks back towards it. The tiny Temeraire, meanwhile, flits around to behind her other shoulder.]
Oh, no, its just a drawing of mister Temeraire.... [And her voice trails off, because the drawing is no longer on the page.]
It has not? [Cue a fair bit of really, really confused beeping.] Perhaps you have umm... [Oh what's the word in English? Uggg. Ok, go with what we know / have picked up. It's the safest, right?] opened some umm.. I am not known word in English.
[Her lips purse, and then widen.] Oh, I am so sorry--I didn't realize you didn't know the language very well. Everyone else had been able to understand me, I'd just thought...
[Well, the laws of her world were a bit different. She'd never run across someone she couldn't understand, no matter what language they were speaking. Actually, that was worth giving a try to.]
What is it you normally speak, Safeguard sir?
Well, it is very nice to meet you, then! [The tiny Temeraire was now, carefully, exploring the rest of the bed and the crayons in as polite a way as possible, picking up the black one with interest and holding it out to Namine to see.]
This is my native language, but almost no-one can understand it here.[And a pause, then, in English.] So I am to be stuck with English or Cybertronian. I am to be getting better, I am thinking. Please. Simply, Safeguard.
[He nods at the little dragon, optics holding a smile.]
[Namine had to pause for a moment, on those beeps...
...but in the end, it really wasn't any different than understanding Chinese, or understanding Lion. Language was not a barrier in the world of Disney.]
Your English is very understandable...but I think...I might know what you said in your native language, too. It must be very hard for you, not having others who you can talk to like you're used to.
[She looked at the crayon, and set it down into a different pile than the other ones, wondering if she should try drawing something else to see if this would happen again.]
I do not know why, but I do. I've never met someone I could not talk to. [She smiles, a bit, sort of glad to know that here was not any different. It had been worrying her.] Maybe it is because hearts are all the same, no matter what world they are from?
[That wasn't exactly right, either, but it felt closer.]
Casual, yes! A bit uncertain, but I know how that is, too. Plus, it seems like it will be good for you to know, no matter where you are.
Hearts...? {And hello new concept that he has no idea what it means.] Soul?
[Again, a nod. He understand most, but not all of what she says. He knows the words, but not the meanings to them, yet. It's a frustrating set back, but one he hide's well.]
Er...yes. [It still surprised her how many people were unfamiliar with the concept.]
Hearts, and Souls, and Bodies...
Those are the three pieces of every person. It does not matter what universe that you are from.
[The crayons had now been divided into two piles--the ones that she had come here with, which were neatly ordered by color, and the small number of replacement crayons she had bought when she arrived, which all had funny symbols on them.]

And slowly, looks back to her other shoulder, where the small black dragon blinks at her, and says:]
Hello!
[Her mouth drops open, and she can only stare a little more.]
Is...this...the dragon you mean, sir?

I believe its Temeraire, but...suddenly, I'm not so sure. Namine, I could be wrong...but am I supposed to be this size?
[Namine can only shake her head, still absolutely shocked.]
N...no, Mister Temeraire...
H...he is not my dragon, I'm sure of that. Um...are drawings normally coming to life here? [She looks back to Safeguard, imploringly.]
Reply
Temeraire? That is nice name.

...this has never happened before.
[Well, not like this. She was used to her drawings coming to life, but...that was in outside life, while the crayon stayed safely on the page.]
Why thank you! I am rather fond of it, myself. Have we spoken before?
[The dragon was now looking at the comm while Namine started picking up her crayons, one by one, and examining them.]
