I have not seen him. But he said he would not attempt to engage the alternate Prime on his own, so I don't know what could have happened.

If he thought he would save someone by leaving without us, I would not put it past him to do so. I might myself.

But I do not think this is a case where he would. Something else must have happened. Either the alternate Prime managed to find a way into his location without drawing attention...or the transtechs may have had something to do with this. Again.
