[Had the situation been different, Soundwave would have informed Magnum where he was going. But the combination of his new emotional responses, his already growing distrust of the deranged Autobot, and the tension of the previous situation - and the fact he did not know if Magnum had yet recovered from it - was enough to cloud even Soundwave's logical judgment.

Keeping far from the Hollow, Soundwave followed the coordinates he could garner from Optimus' comments, hoping to catch him before he could move anywhere close to their new base of operations.

Not that he expected to change his mind, but he could steer him in the wrong direction at the very least - the Autobot would not find the Decepticons, if they did not wish to be found.

Perhaps not as fast as some, he made the trek in robot mode, considering the lack of transportation allowed by his own alternate mode. He almost missed having the lithe, jet body, if only for its speed.]

[in truth, Optimus had no idea where Magnum was. he expected that he was still somewhat trusted that Magnum would agree to a meeting, should he ask it, at some 'neutral' location...but, well, that wasn't what he was after]

[and after making certain Malus's promised backup was in the vicinity...well, all he needed to do now was to pretend to be searching as he waited for Soundwave to find him.]

[Soundwave was still sorting through the mess his precious data had been left in. That creature had somehow, despite never being Cybertronian in its life, managed to halt his data streaming. The backlog was massive, and driving him up a wall to the point where he would have liked nothing better than to stay in a quiet corner with his Lord, and sift through it all.

But Megatron willed him elsewhere. So elsewhere he went, despite his disdain for the not-Autobot he was supposed to be aiding. Something about him... the new influx of data from his processor... it felt wrong.

So Soundwave put it aside. Shunted it off into a separate cache for later, and made certain he was in the appropriate location. Blocking another Soundwave's capabilities with his own... it was intriguing. He waited, taking a customary position atop a radio tower, scanning airwaves.]

[And find him, Soundwave would. He focused every ounce of attention he had on locating the signal of the false Autobot, his scanners homing in on his frequency until it brought him to what appeared to be a fairly empty sector.

Pausing for a moment, he looked around for some sign of the Autobot.]

Designation: Inimicus.

[cue Optimus transforming, and stepping out of a shadow towards Soundwave's right. he looks very...amused]

Took your time, didn't you? I hate being kept waiting.

[It's impossible to miss the other Soundwave's signal. So similar, and yet, so completely different. His attention turns, boosting his own signal, dumping it full of redundant data clogging his processor, to override anything the Alternate's may be doing.

He remembers all too well, after all, that time both of them were laid low by signal interference.]

[Soundwave turned to face the other, actually startled when he stepped out of the shadows. He should have been able to pinpoint his location at that range - but his scanners seemed to be picking up interference. He couldn't identify the source, but it made focusing on any particular bit of information difficult, if not painful.

Distractedly, he attempted to sort out the issue as he addressed the Autobot.]

Optimus Prime's preferences: Irrelevant.

Soundwave does not possess: vehicle form.

NO, WE FORGOT THE LIGHTS. IT IS DARK IN THIS ALLEY.

Your form is close enough to his. [optics slit at that, unamused at the similarities. well. at least he would enjoy this.] Vehicle form or not.

But tell me, Soundwave, why did you come looking for me?...it's almost as you think I am a threat.

[He looks at him for a moment, not making the connection.]

Clarify 'his.'

[Turning to face him completely, he does not draw his weapon - There was no point in antagonizing Prime, even if he didn't trust him. Surely he wouldn't attack one of Magnum's officers. They were still allies, so far as he knew.]

Optimus Prime: Unknown quantity.

Possible: Threat.

[the game here is not to strike first. usually, Optimus -loves- striking first! but this is to see if he can goad Soundwave]

My Soundwave. The one who was fool enough to muck around in my processor before. And you should think of me as a threat. Magnum lives only so much as I can imagine him useful.

[He stands at attention, not that it is any different from his normal stance - It would be difficult to notice the rise in tension he felt at the mention of Megatron.]

Designation: Magnum: will not be defeated by you.

[But you might notice his visor flash in emphasis at that last part.]

Optimus Prime used FLASH!

He was before. [his optics seem to smirk] He's such a femme when it comes to that sort of thing. Elita had more energy than he did in interface, with more damage.

Soundwave uses RAGE.

[His weapon is drawn before he has time to process, his optics glowing with barely suppressed anger. He couldn't keep his vocals even despite his best attempts, his engine growling.]

Optimus Prime: does not possess that information.

Optimus Prime: will cease slandering Lord Megatron.

[Optimus laughs at that, throwing back his head to indulge in it]

Soundwave's RAGE is building...

[His hand is nearly shaking, lowering his helm slightly. He needed to regain control of himself, but the sound of the other 'bot's laughter was pressing all the wrong buttons.

The strain of the events leading up to this moment had finally begun to take its toll on him. The newly emerged emotions, being forced into a body that was not his own, and attempting to defend his shell from that fool clone... And now this mech, defacing the one being Soundwave was loyal to, claiming to have some intimate knowledge that he should not, and mocking it...

His optics narrow behind the shield of the visor, aiming the gun once more for Optimus' chest. He would not tolerate anymore.]

Silence.

Optimus Prime used BIDE.

[he cuts off his laughing, lowering his helm, optics practically sparkling with mirth as he takes a step towards Soundwave]

Why? Are you jealous, Soundwave, that I've seen that part of him and you, his loyal turbomutt, haven't?
