You're going about your business, doing whatever it is you usually do, when suddenly you get an intense feeling of vertigo. The universe seems to shift, warp, and finally vanish as you feel as though you're falling an impossible distance. When your head clears, you're standing in…what can only be called a ‘lab’. The Mech staring down at you looks like what might have happened if Primus sneezed during it’s creation- it’s a hodge-podge of parts, bits and pieces with no obvious form or function. He’s got a dozen appendages that are constantly moving jutting out from his back (not entirely unlike a spider) and after a moment, he pulls a lever and that piercing whine you’ve had drilling through your head suddenly stops, and with it closes the portal.
He turns to face you; The front of him isn’t any better.
“Ah! Good! It worked!” If you need to pin down his accent, it’s colonial British; His voice is quite possibly ‘chirpy’. “Welcome to the Offworld in Axiom Nexus. I’m terribly sorry, but you’ve just fallen through a bleed in space/time. I rescued you before security could get their hands on you. Sadly, they’re very afraid of your particular qualities: they don’t want you to try to overthrow them, you see. So Prime and Megatron archetypes, along with any being with significant power, well, they’re illegal.”
And then a sigh.
“And illegal beings get shipped out rather quickly to places they don’t belong, not at all. Usually dead universes to starve, terrible thing, terrible.”
And now all hands are moving as one. “While I can’t send you home - not enough power, you see, and if the TransTechs discovered what I was doing that would be terrible... Don’t worry! I can get you set up right enough so you can at least live in the city, and maybe even leave through normal means - though I’d probably suggest you avoid the TransTechs as much as possible, unless you have a deathwish…”
Now you can realize that this Mech has many, many drones around his shop- of varying shape and sizes. They’ll take/lead/drag you over to a corner where you will be given a counterfeit ID bolt and false identity, a communicator and a basic idea of how the Offworld works. The TransTech never introduces himself, and once he’s got you prepared, he insists you leave - with added Drone Emphasis.
If you try anything funny, they will kick you out. Literally.
Sadly, for as ‘sorry’ as he is for this happening, the TransTech never explains quite all of what’s going on, or allows you anywhere near his computers or work. In fact, you may well leave with the feeling that there was more to this than met the eye.
Things To Know:
-You're going to emerge onto the streets of Zone 9, which is lovingly called the heap. It would probably be a good idea to
go up, and quickly.
-There is a curfew in affect that means being out after ‘11pm’ will get you arrested. The TransTechs are very specific about that, and you’ll be warned to stay out of trouble by your ‘saviour’.
Your Communicator: Is an iPhone-like device for organics, and either a handheld device or an upgrade/communications channel for mechs, entirely your choice. It is capable of text, voice and video communications, and any combination therein. It can create voice for you if you need, with a little bit of work, and can access the private network Shockwave has set up for you and the rest of his ‘subjects’.
Your communicator can be considered a small, handheld computer that can access, read and download data, be set to interface with other personal networks, and can be set to open locks or direct vehicles. What you can do with it is at least somewhat up to your character’s imagination, however: Communicators can not hack into any TransTech systems.
The Network: = the internets. Basically, the test subjects have their own personal internet that Shockwave has set up to allow them to see each other’s communications and discussion, and for him to watch. There is a MUCH larger network out there for the rest of the Offworld that you can access if you look for it, but that can not access you.
Your Translator: May or may not be explained to you, but is part of your ID chip that allows you to communicate with everyone. It can be a little fuzzy sometimes on words that don't quite translate, and doesn't work for everyone, but it does a good enough job for basic conversation.
[[ooc: If your characters would have specific questions/needs you think the TransTech would answer/see to, feel free to note it here.
