SPN 7.17 - Commentary

Yeah, was looking forward to this one for obvious reasons. Busy week, though, so I only managed to get it done with today. To be honest, it's the first episode I've watched since the one about the God of Time. That's how much Misha Collins owns my soul.

I liked some parts. A lot. The reveal, Dean talking about his pal Cass to an oblivious "Emmanuel". Meg gets some great lines. Demons are popping back onstage, which is nice since I like them better as villains compared to Leviathans and sets things up for more Crowley appearances. Cass gets to sport the trench again and saves Sam from Hallucifer, which really made sense for his character and underlined just how badly he was feeling about all this - which actually was very much needed, since the amnesia fixit scene was a little rushed.

On the other hand...

Okay, there wasn't a snowball's chance in Hell of Jimmy showing up, since his popularity is <<<< that of Castiel's, but his complete non-mention in the show is starting to border on annoying. I mean, yeah, my personal headcanon is that he's dead (for his own sake, poor dude), but a nod to his existence at least would be nice >:(

And Daphne? Was that plot twist supposed to be going somewhere? (By the way, should my loved one be attacked by demons I know I will have absolutely no problems with leaving him alone at home AKA the scene of the freaking crime while I run off with strangers.) Especially given the ending. My God the ending. Are Sam and Dean going to let his wife know about this at all? Why the hell are they leaving him in the care of a treacherous, evil demon who's screwed them over more than once? How do they *know* that every single demon who knows about Cass/Emmanuel is dead? Gah!

Hit and miss, Show. Excuse me while I go off and write fanfic about Castiel and Hallucifer and try to forget everything else happened.
