Just to see through your eyes

Damn, I need to get back into my usual internet habits.  I've got so much to do every time I sit down in front of my computers.  Yeah, that's right, I said computers, as in the plural, more than one, less than infinite.  Okay, two to be exact.  I finally got some (somewhat) updated parts.  I was getting frustrated with my old system because it was far enough behind the times that all the new games coming out wouldn't run on it.  So, through talks, negotiations, and trades, I managed to score some parts from a friend who was upgrading his.  Then, I got myself a nice ass video card on the dreaded blackest of all Fridays.  Now, I have a gaming computer which is strictly used for..uh..gaming.  And my old machine does pretty much everything else since it has all the info I need on it.  Now I can finally play all those newfangled fancy graphiced games that have been coming out.  Right now I'm currently in love with Fallout 3, and Left 4 Dead.  This is besides my usual WoW habit, which has been unusual as of late.  Haven't had much time to do my usual gaming or anything during the week.

Work's been going fine, save for the upcoming 3 weeks I'm going to have off and not be paid for, and taking overtime to help pay for it.  It wasn't supposed to be that long of a break, but with the economy in its rut, sales being down, blah blah blah, we have 3 weeks off.  At least I don't have to worry about not having a job to come back to, I can relax for that time.  All I've had to do was make sure I have enough money saved up to cover my bills in January.  Then I'll start worrying about possibly getting laid off after that.

On the game night front, the two Sundays ago, I ran the first session of my D&D game.  There were some hitches of course, but nothing too major.  Once we got character creation out of the way, I had to do some quick thinking and explaining to get everyone acquainted with the setting and their characters parts in it.  Then I had to get them started on the path to adventure.  It was fun, I have to say.  I think I handled things a lot better than the last time I ran a game.  But I'm also older and wiser now.  HA!

Here's a rundown of what they're playing- Changling Rogue, Warforged Rogue, Human Artificer, Human Fighter, Human Cleric, Human Paladin.  My only regret in these choices?  No one else but me seems to like dwarves.  Ah well.

Anywhore, they finally get to their first combat, 3 wolves.  Yep, 3 standard, run-of-the-mill, ordinary wolves.  And that's how they saw it.  "Three wolves?  Regular wolves?  Alright."  I think it's been a while since they've played a level 1 character.  Even though I have 6 players, it took them at least 20 rounds to kill all three wolves.  The Fighter went down the very first round.  Why?  Because of the three characters that were the closest, he was the smallest.  So, two hit from the wolves and he's down and dying.  Lots of bad die rolls, cursing, headshaking, grumbling, cheers, exclamations, and die trading later, the Paladin goes down.  A few more rounds after that, they finally kill off the last wolf.  It was great.  And the thing is, I'm running a premade adventure, which is supposed to be for a group of 4 characters.  So, I'm having to scale up the encounters to account for the extra two PCs.  But the wolf encounter?  I didn't touch it.  Funny, eh?  Now I'm just trying to decide if I want to give them an extra reward for the trouble they had, or laugh maniacally and rub my hands together as they near the scaled up encounters.  The second session is tonight, we'll see how things go then.
