Game Night was modified due to the T&A unit being out of town and getting back too late for us to do anything. I ended up playing some Poker with the roomies, then introducing them to
Talisman. Bridgette enjoyed it, Preston did not. He seemed to until the Raiders took all his stuff. Then he was just kinda pissy and vindictive after that. We also watched
Beowulf, which I thought was pretty cool, and
Michael Clayton, which was, well, I'm not sure how I feel about it.
Birthday started out with a soul sucking implosion. I only got about 4 hours of sleep due to my being nervous about my job situation. I gave them a call and they couldn't talk to me right then, saying I'd get a return call after a meeting. So I sat around, nervously waiting. The main office finally called me after a few hours to inform me that it has been requested that I be removed from the site. Fuck. I'm not fired, I'm just getting removed from the highest paying account and put somewhere else. So Wednesday I have to go down there to discuss my options. I'd just outright quit if I could afford it. I'm just going to take this as the final kick in my ass to start looking for a better job. I enjoyed doing security, but it's not what I want to do for the rest of my life. I was waiting for them to hold another class for Firefighting certification, but that's been blown out of the water now because I couldn't keep my damn mouth shut. I also liked the people I work with, and was finally getting better at getting along with people enough to be friends as well as coworkers (which hardly happens). Now I'm probably not going to ever talk to those people anymore.
I related this news to the family who called me, feeling bitter and depressed and feeling the need to spread my little bit of birthday misery. I ended up not going over to my parents like I thought I was going to. But my day did get better. Bridgette decided to take me out for something to eat (not before I bitched about it. I don't like people spending money on me. I'm weird like that.). We've hardly gotten chances to hang out over the last couple of months due to work schedules and management being anal. It was good to just sit and bullshit and crack jokes.
After foodage, I introduced her to
Fluxx. Then we played a couple rounds of Talisman, which she's picked up quickly on and is enjoying even more. I then introduced her to
Super Munchkin, which was a bit slow going as I forgot about the Power Rank rules and whatnot and kept having to refer back to the rulesheet on. Don't quite know how interested she is in playing that, or any of the other
Munchkin games, again. Preston came home later and we played a few more rounds of Fluxx. I'm doubting I'm going to be able to find a non-videogame he'll enjoy. Ah well, my kind of gaming is not for everyone, especially people who've never been exposed to it or the bits of culture surrounding it. Poor bastards.
So even though the day started out with a buffet helping of suck, it got better. After I get some sleep, I need to see about getting my driver's license updated. That should be an adventure. Then I'll more than likely head over to my parents' and spend some time with the nephew. They bought him a
Wii. I look forward to getting my ass kicked at
Wii Sports Bowling some more.
