Time was never on my side

Saturday was a long day..  I went to my classes, then drove up to Newport..  Took me a bit to find the park entrance, and then the shelter were the family reunion was being held..  I didn't recognize a single person I saw there the frist time I drove by..  Was damn scary..  Not much of my grandmother's side of the family showed..  Hung out there for a few hours, and everybody left..  I still had two hours to kill before the book signing, so I stopped at a UDF in Cincy for a milkshake (cause I must everytime I'm up that way) and went to my grandmother's..  Left there and drove even further into Cincy to the Borders..  Got there at about 6:20, bought my copy of Danse Macabre (at 40% off), and got a signing line number, 121..  Maybe I should have gotten there a little earlier..  I make my way over to the crowd of people just in time to catch Laurell K. Hamilton coming out and everyone applauding..  She did about a half hour to fortyfive minutes of talking and answering questions..  The she started signing books..  After getting up through 100, she stopped signing to ice her wrist for about a half hour and answered more questions..  Then she started signing again..  I finally made it up, a little over 3 hours after I had gotten there..  For my first book signing, I guess it went well..  Just standing by myself, with no one to talk to, took it's toll..  Once it was over I wanted to go home, but I had a two hour drive to make first..  Kat and Tony each called me while I was waiting, which helped, but I think if I had taken someone with me, it would have been better..

Sunday we had our party..  Food, people, swimming with T&A's boys..  Lots of fun..  I did end up burning my foot though..  I stepped on a hot piece of sparkler that had fallen while barefoot..  Hurt like a sonuvabitch..  Iced it and everything until the pain calmed down..  Monday I helped clean up and relaxed most the day..  My foot started the day hurting with pressure, but that eventually went away..  That night I went over T&A's..  We ended up playing Talisman with Tony's brother's family..  4 brand new people to Talisman..  It was fun, large games usually are, but beginner's luck was working its magic against us veterans..  I was the first to die, but took over another character as she was falling asleep at the table..  Tony's brother ended up dominating the game, but we gave him a good run..

Yesterday I did a whole bunch of nothing..  Watched Fun with Dick & Jane, and Underwold: Evolution..  FwD&J was funny, and U:E could have been a lot better, a loooooooooot..  But, as a guy, all I can really say is, Kate Beckinsdale in leather mmmmmmmmmmmmmm..
