Ducks

A lot of people seem to be feeling quite down while posting on LJ recently so let me tell you about our Halls' ducks.

Our ducks have been through a lot recently. For a start there's been some love pentagons going on. It seems that there are way more male mallards than lady one so there have been many males competing for two females' attentions. Needless to say this has led to problems. Breakfast a week or so ago let us see an arial chase of one male duck by another male and a female which resulted in quite a splash of a landing in our moat. They've also had to deal with the freezing of their moat, which confused them no end only to wait for it to melt and then all stand tentatively on one side not wanting to risk the cold.

We got wittled back down to two ducks again this week but the others have showed up again and there's still too many dudes but the real reason I feel bad for them is today...
shula_tiger has gone to Manchester today to have a photo-shoot and so I took her to the train station but when I looked out the window everything had gone foggy! This was "can't see 15 metre" fog and lo and behold the ducks had somehow wandered all the way to our halls, probably the one furthest away from their normal suroundings. There they were being petrified by suit cases and the like, not understanding what was going on but they didn't let this get to them; rather they started to eat the garden and settle down. The ducks weren't there on my return, maybe having risked the journey back to water but I like to think of them and how they dealt with their hard times.... We could learn a lot from ducks.

I'd also like to take this time to damn Renman. You've made me want to collect forest goblins you goit! That is all.

ducks, uni
