Chapter 8-The Fight at Dead Man's Cave
Matthew gasped and shut his eyes when the shot was fired. When Matthew opened them, he looked to see that Alfred was alive and fighting Spigot with a smile on his face. Matt sighed in relief. He watched as a mass of pirates appeared, out of what seemed like nowhere, all to attack Alfred. Alfred pulled out his sword and came down swinging at Spigot.
“Ready to lose the other one?” Alfred smiled cockily.
“Not this time!” Spigot pushed Alfred back up into the air to get free of him.
Alfred again came down from the air and swung his sword. Spigot kept up with Alfred’s blows, and eventually managed to get Alfred trapped in a corner. Instead of swinging his sword, Spigot swung his right arm to hit Alfred with the pipe. Alfred dodged quickly by ducking under Spigot’s arm. He turned around, quickly bringing his sword around. Spigot used his pipe hand and caught the sword.
Matthew watched the two fight, not noticing the pirate who had climbed up near him. Tino laughed and caught Matt’s attention. He inched closer to Matt, raising his sword up. When Tino brought his sword down, Matt panicked and threw up his arms to block his face. Matt opened his eyes when he didn’t feel any pain, and noticed the dagger in his hand, was holding Tino’s sword. Tino chuckled at Matt’s frightened face.
“Yoo-hoo, Chicken.” Tino teased, looking in between the dagger and the sword. Matt frowned and stomped on Tino’s foot with all his might.
“Who are you calling a chicken!?” Matt asked angrily, swinging the dagger around. Matt honestly didn’t know what he was doing, but whatever it was, it was working.
Alfred jumped into the air and used the rock wall behind him to give him force to come forward again at Spigot. Spigot spun around to get out of the way from Alfred’s incoming sword. He made a complete 360, and when he stopped he looked around. Alfred wasn’t there. Alfred laughed and flew right into Spigots knees, casing Spigot to lose his balance and fall flat on his back on the rocky terrain with a grunted, “Ow.”
Elizaveta led Jack and Peter to a somewhat safe area from the fighting. They had no weapons, and fists can’t do much if your enemy has a sword and can reach you before you reach them. Antonio crawled up and caught the three of them. They were trapped. Antonio smiled greedily, and swung his sword. Jack ducked to get out of the swords way. Peter just shut his eyes and hoped for the best, and the sword went right over his head. Elizaveta jumped back more into the corner, but not before the cut shopped off some her hair. She gasped.
“Ön vágni a hajam!”Elizaveta snapped. Peter, opened his eyes and saw he was at the perfect angle so he kicked his leg up and right into Antonio’s crotch. Antonio dropped his sword, and cursed in pain.
Jack, seeing what his brother did, took the opportunity to swing his arm and punch the pirate in the face. Antonio stumbled backwards, and fell off the edge of the rock and into the cold water. Jack grinned at his younger brother.
“Nice kick," he said, patting Peter on the shoulder.
“I know.” Peter grinned back at his older brother. Elizaveta placed her hands on her hips and smiled at the two brothers.
Matt had his back to a wall, Tino had his sword stuck in a wall. Matt used the chance and swung his knife. He managed to make a small cut on Tino’s face. He inwardly cheered until Tino held a gun up. Matt ran out of options, so he threw his dagger before Tino could fire. The way he threw his dagger made it impossible to kill Tino, unless the dagger was shot using amazing pressure. But, Matt had used enough force to cause Tino to fall, and roll down some rocks.
Alfred and Spigot were equally matched, pacing back and forth, the sounds of their swords hitting each other came through the air.
“If I were you, I’d give up!” Spigot said trying to play a mental game with Alfred. Alfred swung his sword, and it met with Spigot’s.
“If you were me,” Clang, “I’d be ugly,” Alfred frowned.
Spigot’s face became angry at that remark, he pushed the boy back, and swung a few times, and had gotten Alfred trapped. Alfred gasped in shock at being trapped. He flew up, and tried swinging his sword but it was no good, Spigot had blocked that. Alfred tried to escape by getting low and flying away. Spigot noticed his plan of action and had grabbed Alfred’s ankle and pulled the boy close to him. He covered Alfred’s mouth, and had Alfred’s arm caught with his pipe.
“Ready...?” Alfred looked up at his captor.. Spigot threw Alfred into the air, causing Alfred to drop his sword. When in the air, Alfred thought he could regain his happy thought and correct himself, but his idea was stopped short when his back hit a stalactite. He broke the stalactite, and both he and the rock fell towards the water.
Matt had caught up to his brothers and Elizaveta. There was no time to embrace his brothers as he watched Alfred fall from the sky and into the water. Matthew noticed Toris trying to escape using the row boat that had brought him and the others in the cave. The four of them, jumped on to Toris’ boat and fought for the oars. With four against one, it isn’t difficult to do. They pushed Toris into the water as well.
Alfred finally came to the surface, gasping for air. He crawled up the rock in front of him. Reaching for something to help him climb, but all he found was a leather boot. Alfred opened his eyes and looked up.. And there Spigot was, looking down at Alfred, with a face that said ‘What a pathetic existence’. Alfred quickly got to his feet and went to punch Spigot, but Spigot caught his arm. Spigot raised his arm up to beat Alfred over the head, but Alfred had caught that. They were both struggling trying to prove which one was stronger, but it was Spigot who won in the end, with a nasty head butt.
Spigot easily forced Alfred onto the ground. He grabbed the boy by his hair, and forced the pipe near it. Alfred grabbed the arm and struggled to keep it away from him.
“And now, Alfred Jones, you shall, die.” The other pirates in the room quickly took of their hats, and waited for Spigot to finish him.
“To die, would be an awfully big adventure.” Alfred smiled. Peter turned and hid his face into Matt shoulder, while Matt stared horrified at Spigot and Alfred. Spigot raised his arm up, just as Alfred’s smile widened into a grin that would put the Cheshire Cat to shame. Spigot stopped mid swing and frowned.
Tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock.
“Oh no...” Spigot turned around and stared horrified at what he saw in the distance. He immediately let go of Alfred. There was the Crocodile looking right at him. “SHOOT IT!” Spigot shrieked. All the pirates instantly began to flee the scene, as the giant croc made its way into the water. Spigot went to kill Alfred, if he was going to die, he’ll bring the brat with him. But when Spigot turned around, Alfred was gone. Spigot searched the area for the missing boy. He found him, standing on the end of the small row boat, saluting to him with a big grin on his face.
“You...” Spigot whispered, but he couldn’t finish his sentence, for the crocodile had reappeared out of the water and launched itself at Spigot. The last thing you could hear was, Spigot screaming as he ran away from the crocodile
