It's been a good few days. I LOVE summer. Hah.
On Wednesday I had my interview with the NYCC. I'm still waiting to hear about that so... we'll see I guess. Gah. I hate looking for a job.
On Thursday me, my mom and my dad left to Philadelphia to watch my brothers crew team compete in the Dad Vail Regatta. So that's pretty exciting :) They did pretty well too.
Type your cut contents here. We got to Philly on Thursday evening and it was raining like crazy. Seriously when I was trying to sleep I could hear that rain pounding on the roof. Pretty crazy. And it was supposed to rain all weekend but luckily when we woke up it was gorgeous outside.
The regatta was held at Fairmount Park, which is beautiful. We sat in the grand stand right at the finish line so that was pretty cool. In John's qualifying heat, the first two teams automatically advance to the semis, the last team is eliminated and the rest of them go to the reps. 1000 meters through they race they knew they couldn't get first of second, and they also knew that they had Florida easily beat so they dogged it the last 1000 meters. And, haha, it turned out that they got one of the slowest times of any of the mens heavyweight 8s.
Naturally that confused people when during they rep, mason was really in it. They didn't get first, but it was between Mason and Drexel for second and they came in one right after the other. So we didn't really know who won. And they took 45 MINUTES to look at the photos and decide who won. In the end though Mason got second and got into the semis. It was actually really excited. And they were SO happy. :) John even picked me up and hugged me when he had come down to the grand stand to wait. Really, really exciting. Everyone knew that they'd get killed on Saturday and the semis but thats okay, they raced their race on Friday. ^_^
We left soon after that and then on Saturday yeah...they got killed. They came in a good three of four seconds after the boat in front of them but that's okay. They expected that. Oh, and Casey's boat came in third at their rep so they didn't qualify for the semis. She said she had expected that though.
All in the all the dad vail was awesome :) Exhausting though. Races on Friday ran from 7am until 6pm and on Saturday from 7am until 5pm. There was a race every seven minutes. Gah.
I had so much fun hanging out with John and then Casey when he was out on the water. Especially since he isn't coming home this summer :(
After we left Fairmount Park we went down to boathouse row to see my dads old coach who now coaches for Haverford School. The boathouses are gorgeous! They don't look anything like boathouses from the outside, except for the shells you can see on the side. And Haverford has some gorgeous shells. Yeah, I was jealous.
I miss crew so much :( I learned that NC state has a team. I didn't know that. I could have gone there. gah. So does VCU and CNU and ODU and VT. grrr.
We got back late last night. And now it's Mothers Day! And the Grey's Anatomy season finale is on tonight! Well, the first half. The second half is on tomorrow. HAH.
