{On the second day, Donghae is being loved by Kyuhyun}

*

Lee Donghae.

He hates the humid weather sometimes. It is like being inside a water tank, a big water tank filled with water; only the difference is there is no water at all. Like the morning after a heavy rain or the mere few days before the winter come, or the few days after summer, they are all humid and he feels suffocated.

But no matter how he hates the humidity, never once he thought anyone would have a greater reason to hate the damp weather. That is why he was attracted to the weird student named Cho Kyuhyun when he first entered the middle school, almost eleven years ago. Kyuhyun was cheerful when the sun was all shining and bright; he played with the other kids outside, running around in the field flying kites and throwing baseball. He laughed, he smiled, he talked with everyone, and everyone was pleased with him. But then the clouds came by, all dark and heavy, and the rain showered the earth.

That was the first time Donghae witnessed how bad the weather can affect someone. Kyuhyun walked when everyone was running back into the class. He let the rain soaked his uniform, and dripped from his dark brownish bang. He frowned when the teacher pulled his hands so that he would walk faster and do not get soaked any longer. He stopped smiling, he stopped talking, and he stopped being the kid he was earlier that day.

He sat quietly at his desk; he was not teasing anyone as he usually did. He opened his book and he read it without a sound. Everyone was afraid, everyone was looking at him. Donghae’s seat was next to him, so no matter if he wanted to be there or not, he just has to be there. It did not happened just once. A few days later, it rained again, and Kyuhyun became the second person again, and people avoided him when that happened. Donghae couldn’t help but to ask him what was happening. Directly to Kyuhyun. Face to face.

“Why? Do you hate me? You don’t even know who I am.”

“No I don't hate you. And I know who you are! You’re Kyuhyun, silly!”

Kyuhyun glared at him, and then shifted his view to the rainy day outside. The other kids were listening to them tensely from far away.

“I wonder why they like him so much? Was he better than me? Am I not good enough?” Donghae was dumbfounded. He got no idea who Kyuhyun was talking about, so he just sat still, listening and trying to understand what his friend was going to say.

“Is it wrong to be me? I don't appear too often, so what’s wrong with accepting me for a while? They were always with him when the day was bright. I want to be their friend, too.” Donghae felt pity for the boy next to him, that he patted his shoulder, and smiled. He wished he could do more than that, but no a kid got no such power on other human, not yet.

“You are my friend, idiot. Or else why should I sit here and talk to you?”

But only Kyuhyun knew what difference Donghae made on him that day.

-

Kyuhyun is like a weather forecast for him. When he enters the coffee house with an annoyed expression, Donghae just knew it; it will rain soon. “I got a new project; that new coffee shop just a few blocks from yours. Are you okay with that?”

Donghae nods, and serves a cup of espresso to him. It’s natural, really. The Kyuhyun in this weather loves bitter drinks, almost tasteless dishes; like the soups he made for a feverish kid, and sweet treats makes him furious. He flattens his left cheek onto the bar, and his nose sniffs the strong aroma of the black, caffeinated drink. “Donghae you know I love you, but please don't be too nice. It’s damn stupid for me to fix your competitor’s place, dumbass.”

“I really don't mind. It’s been a long time since you got a big project like this. I mean; it is a big project right?” Kyuhyun nods, and takes a sip from his cup. There is a plate of plain-looking cookies that he is too lazy to find out what the name is, and he draws his hand to take a piece of it.

“Then it’s okay. I am a dumbass, after all. I can still manage this place well. It’s all up to how we manage the place, not how the place looks like. Don't worry. Besides, I’m too good-looking to be ignored by the customers.”

Kyuhyun chuckles, and Donghae knows he is being sarcastic with it. No he is not offended. As long as Kyuhyun is contented, he is happy. Because Kyuhyun is a special friend.

-

Cho Kyuhyun; on a rainy day.

Lee Donghae is silly. He knew the fact from a long time ago. Often he wonders; how did he survive the high school years when they were apart? Maybe that is the reason why he accepted Lee Hyukjae, as the new barista when his brother begged him earlier.

He never really knows his own self when the day is bright. He never gave any thought about it. He never realised how the Kyuhyun is rainy days is hated and avoided. He only knew about his other personality when a friend told him he was being scary and how the friend hated him when the day was raining. He was shocked, he was hurt. Since then, he always hates the other him for being all cheerful and caring and sometimes, too nice.

It just happens, really. Because he hates the rain. No particular reason. He just hates it. He never realised about the change of attitudes in him when the weather changed. And what makes him more annoyed with the other Kyuhyun is; he never knows how he is when the day is raining. He never remembers. It feels like he is the only one who needs to suffer this unspeakable hatred.

But Donghae, Donghae is the only place where he feels like his self; the Kyuhyun that rarely appears is loved and appreciated. Donghae accepts him as who he is, Donghae never compares him to the other Kyuhyun. Donghae loves both Kyuhyun as his friend, and he listens to both Kyuhyuns’ problems.

So when Donghae told him a few days ago about his favourite customer, Lee Sungmin, he was pissed. No one can become Donghae’s favourite, except him. No one supposed to make Donghae smiles whenever he is around, except him. He feels like this Sungmin is a rival, a competitor; a certain someone who needs to be taken away from Donghae.

And he is not a bit pleased, of course; when the said Sungmin comes into the coffee house later, with a pink umbrella and a peach-coloured coat, a little soaked on the arms and greets Donghae with a smile that makes he feels like giving a punch on that pretty face.

-

“So, you’re a writer?” nods. Kyuhyun clucks his tongue against his teeth, and drinks up his espresso. Sungmin ignores his expression, and continues munching a large chunk of donut in his hand. Donghae is at the kitchen, teaching Hyukjae the right way to draw a leaf on a cup of caffe latte. That kid too, pissed Kyuhyun off. But he doesn't know why Sungmin is more of a threat than that innocent-looking kid.

“How many books you wrote? I never heard of your name before this. Are you using a pen name?” nods again, but this time he answers the question with words. “I’ve written five books so far, and yeah I used a pen name. It’s Ryumin.”

“Ryumin?”

“Yeah, ‘Ryu’ came from the Japanese for ‘dragon’, and ‘Min’ was from my own name, Sungmin.”

“So it’s Dragon Min? Comical.” Bluntly said, and Sungmin doesn't know whether to have it as a compliment or a pragmatic talk. So in the end, he shrugs and smiles to the answer. “What are your books were about? Were they fictional? Alternate universe? Or real life situation?”

“Fictional; mostly love stories. But I made them sound like it did happened in real life, though it didn't seem like it worked.” Silence, because Kyuhyun is losing his words of what he should say. But then Sungmin takes his chance.
