Random Music Post: it's just a strong interest, really.

Sep 19, 2006 19:54

I came home in a rather eh mood but all the posts about the Studio60 pilot airing tonight and the general Sorkin love I've seen has cheered me up a bit. Oh, Danny. Oh, Toby. Oh, shows.

I've been looking at all the music memes that are going around and half-heartedly poking at them and then basically sighing at my inability to make decisions. So, in the end, I've decided to post a rather random collection of songs I've been enjoying recently, because I feel like sharing.

Fair warning: I decided to limit myself to 10 and I had planned for more variety but once I started uploding Stones songs I couldn't stop! And there are still so many more! So yeah, 5 of these are Stones songs, 1 is by a band with one member of the Stones and other 4 aren't by them. But two remind me of them a little.

All on my webspace so right click save as if you're taking any.

The Rolling Stones - Wild Horses (Live Stripped Version)

Beacuse my love for this song can not be quantified. Honestly. It's probably my favourite Stones song and it's just so pretty and this version is particular is awesome.

The Rolling Stones - Coming Down Again

The Rolling Stones - The Worst
The Rolling Stones - This Place is Empty (Live)

Keith's voice is kind-of an aquired taste, especially if you've heard him singing live on an off day, but it is very pretty both way back when (first song) and even today when it's all smoky and fucked-up (second and third songs beacause I couldn't decide between them!)

The Rolling Stones - Back of My Hand

I feel like I'm being unfair to Mick here because while Keith is my favourite, he sings a fairly small percentage of their ridiculously large number of songs and I do love him too! So, to rectify this the above song is the Stones all deliciously blues-y from their latest album.

The Dirty Mac - Yer Blues

This is from the rather crack-tastic Rolling Stones Rock n' Roll Circus which was a tv special of sorts shot in 1968 with the Stones and a bunch of other bands of the time like The Who, Jethro Tull and yes, John Lennon. All of them totally high as kites by the way. Hilarious. Anyway, this song is performed by a band they kinda chucked together on the night. John Lennon + Eric Clapton + Keith Richards = Awesome!

Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up

I've heard some of Ryan Adams' songs before and I've been kind of 'eh' about them (except for his rather hilarious cover of Oasis's 'Wonderwall' which is pretty awesome) but this one I love.

Come pick me up, take me out, fuck me up, steal my records, screw all my friends, they're all full of shit, with a smile on your face, and then do it again.

Also there is totally something Keith/Anita/Mick about it.

Colin Meloy - Blues Runs the Game (Jackson C Frank Cover)

Beacsue Colin Meloy rocks all before him and this is a gorgeous cover. And yes, there might be something more than a little Keith/Mick about it.

The Dresden Dolls - Dirty Business

Beacuse I saw them in concert just under a week ago and they were awesome. This is a song from their latest album that I keep getting my head.

Beck - Go It Alone

I recently rediscovered my love for Beck and I happily picked up one his albums relatively cheaply recently. This is one of my favourites from it.

sorkin, music, stones
