That was .... better. Quite a bit better. I didn't get angry that much! Mackenzie was written as a competent news producer for a whole episode!
Natalie Morales can definitely come back. (I know we've seen her briefly before). Loved Kaylee. I should watch the Middleman at some point as I really have liked Natalie in everything I've seen her in. I could have done without Neil being all explain-y Explainerson to her and Lisa though.
And on the subject of Lisa. i really liked her speech she gave to Jim. And look at her not being at all hysterical. In fact she was pretty great the whole ep. But really with him asking her out again? Because that doesn't end the main problem of their relationshup where she feels A LOT more for him that she does for her. Them starting again doesn't fix that! Can we just end the quadrangle plotline, please?
Jim escaping to watch the baseball game was classic introvert move an I liked it because ... I've done that. Or something similar anyway.
I would ship Jim/Kaylee btw. What? It'd be cute.
"Do you want to be like SpiderMan?" "I'd love to." Also liked the continuation of James Tiberius Harper.
Stoned!Will was pretty great ngl.
It was a little manipulative to have cops, veterans and the FDNY cap at the end but it worked for the most part. It could have been way worse.
I liked the vibe Sloan, Elliot and Don had on the plane with the other passengers ("people in row 22 know about Maggie" "true story" and the bit about even the Treasury Secretary knowing) but I didn't love the moment where Don was all, "your armed forces killed him for you." It seemed a little over the top but 9/11 feelings, I get that.
Thomas Sadoski is good at the Sorkin though.
Also hi there Sportsnight!Will/TWW!news reporter/probably someone on Studio60 in the background on the plane.
Maggie's dress was cute.
I fear what Sorkin will do with a phone tapping storyline. Fear it a lot but nice fake out with the phone-call.
I liked it overall but it wasn't quite as OMG awesome as I thought it might be. Mike and Jenny were sort of cute and Trevor is a douche and it was payoff for the 'Harvey didn't teach me that' line but .... eh. It didn't say anything new.
So, let's talk about Harvey instead. :D
When I saw the sneak peek with the mention of his Dad and saying he'd call him back later I was all, "well, shit." And yep. That turned out to be the correct reaction. Gabriel Macht rocked those reaction shots/scenes by the grave, and argh all those quiet scenes were great and the sense that he does that every year. <- not objective.
Harvey and Donna. Oh god, so adorable. They seemed a bit more casual than they have the in present actually. The conversation about the partners was awesome, and where she's all "has it [the intercom] ever been off? ... sorry what?"
"We made partner." <33333 That might be the sweetest thing Harvey's ever said to someone and meant it. Fuck you, they're a team. Get them back together right now. And it looks like that might actually happen. About damn time, Harvey btw.
I thought Zoe would be in it more. I liked her in the first scene a lot, and she had a point at the end sort of but I also don't think she gets to tell him how to mourn his father. That's a bit rich. She wants him to change I think ... and I just don't think that's going to happen.
So happy Jessica was in on that plan. I love when they kick ass together and I was worried they were going to draw out the whole 'you voted to settle' thing.
Oh, Louis. You owe Harvey but at the same time you not following through and him telling Jessica about bugging his office that doesn't mean much if Hardman wins and Jessica is gone. So, we'll see.
Shallowness: Suits wardrobe people, I will pay you actual cash to see Harvey in jeans. Saying that he was looking pretty damn great, present day. Yep, I was thinking how hot he looked as he walked towards his father's grave. I did that. Bad person.
Anyway, this show. My feelings. I hate your face, Gabriel Macht. I also have become the person who wants to write gen and het in a slash dominated fandom. I feel that should be a fangirl achievement badge of some description.
I should take advantage of this sunshine and go outside and read a book. A book from the many unread ones on my bookshelf as my inability to read and return library books on time is getting expensive. Why so tempting all-the-books-I-haven't-read?
Apropos of nothing:
this gif is pretty great. I should watch more comics based cartoons.
