I do what I want! (I couldn't title a post about this year's GT any other way).

Get/together this weekend was awesome. It was great to see people again (for the first time in over two years in most cases) and meet new ones (including labellementeuse who has been on my flist for years) and it was just a lot of fun. Lots of great discussion, fun panels and pretty new fandoms to explore. (I will end up reading XMen: First Class, Thor or Avengers fic soon, I know I will. It's pretty surprising I haven't fallen down those holes yet actually). I think my Fringe pimp went okay but I really wish I'd included more video and I kept thinking of things I should have mentioned after I finished, but it was a good experience and I'd be keen to do one again.

However, despite the awesome it was a very full-on weekend (9am-9pm both days, including travel time) so tonight I went home, had a simple dinner and just chilled out and it was just what I needed.

A lot of that time was spent reading fic, two of which were amazing:

1. Early Returns (15565 words) by
rageprufrock
Fandom: Inception (2010)
Rating: Mature
Warning: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Summary: Thinking that a reporter genuinely likes you is pretty much on par with feeling like you really are special to that stripper.

I haven't read Inception fic in months and months but I'm so glad I took the time to read this. Arthur/Eames, Newspaper AU. Oh, Arthur. <3

2. All The Earth Awaits Thee (Hawaii Five-0, Steve/Danny). Written by a yet-to-be-revealed author for h50_exchange.

Oh. This is just, heart-breaking but amazingly written and so real. Steve is diagnosed with leukemia and it's so them. It's so well done but also feels so personal and I really can't recommend it enough. Also, while heart-wrenching, it does have a happy ending.

I also found time to watch new Fringe.

Hi Peter hi!

To be honest, I haven't missed him quite as much as I thought I would, but I was still happy to have him back and he was so calm, and actually used his brain in genius-like ways and mmm, it was awesome. And kinda hot.

However, all that aside, oh that scene with Walter did kill me, and the moment when Walter leaves and him and Olivia lock eyes and the pain and the ... oy. This show really doesn't do things the easy way. I know that, and yet sometimes I wish I would. (Actually no, I love that they don't but it's not always an easy watch).

I thought the actress playing Nadine was a little weak at times, but hopefully she improves. The Dr character was interesting, and the shape-shifter one was mostly interesting too. I loved Lincoln's determination to find out more about the things that killed his partner.

As for the kinda Olivia/Lincoln thing at the end. Poor Olivia when she was reaching out, but as a Peter/Olivia 'shipper I'm not that worried. The show 'ships them together so very hard I just find it hard to believe that it's going to end up any other way.

I liked that we found out more about Nina fostering Olivia and Rachel, but I still need to know more! I still can't quite make that work in my head. Why? Because Olivia had been experimented on by Walter? Did she have another motive (this is Nina)? I need to know more!

I don't actually think there was any Astrid in this episode. :(

Next week looks pretty cool.
