NPH and Jon Stewart should talk all the time ...

So, for reasons not exactly passing understanding, I stayed up till 4am to watch a live stream of the Emmys, with the AV Club's live-blog open (which was actually pretty entertaining) and for the last hour or so chatting away to tangleofthorns.

The Good:

- Neil Patrick Harris. <3 I'm a recent convert to HIMYM and the awesome that is NPH, but I thought he did a great job. His material wasn't always the best, but he made it work, and was just a lot of fun to watch.

- In fact, I thought the format is general was better than in previous years. Sorting it into sections did work, and the new little bits they put in like actually talking to the writers and directors was awesome. (Especially the variety show writer's bits). I even liked how they introduced the presenters with their obscure roles.

- Dr. Horrible interlude! <3 (And of course Captain Hammer's favourite show is CSI:Miami).

- Two BSG shout-outs in the Drama montage.

- Daily Show Emmys! And I seriously think the best moment of the night was Jon Stewart complimenting NPH and talking to him mid-speech. Those two need to work together. Or NPH just needs to go on The Daily Show a few times. ;)

- Brendan Gleeson, Ken Howard, and Jessica Lange's speeches.

The WTF?!

- Jon Cryer?! Seriously?! I am still just boggling at that.

- There was a lot of Justin Timberlake. Not necessarily a bad thing, just a little odd. He did okay though.

- January Jones's dress.

The Bad

- Generation Kill not winning. I mean, I prepared myself for it, and thought it was unlikely when Little Dorrit started winning the writing and directing awards, but still. It sucks. The Emmys just do not like David Simon.

... I thought I had more to say, but I think the rest just left me feeling eh. Either I didn't watch the show, know who the people were, or it was a foregone conclusion (read: Mad Men, though I do like the show and was happy they won). I was rooting for HIMYM in the comedy section though.

Had a pretty good weekend. There was quite a lot of alcohol on Friday and Saturday nights, but omg, caprioscas at The Big Chill bar off Brick Lane are awesome.

Small TV obsession of the moment: I seem to be back to watching NCIS. Oh, McGee, Tony, Gibbs and Abby, I love you.

I really have to get around to watching Dollhouse. I've had it for ages now and just never got around to it.

ncis, award shows
