The #464345 BSG finale reaction post on the internet

I can now return to the internet as I have seen ....

Well, fuck.

I did not think they were going to get a happy ending like that, or that the last hour would be spent saying goodbye to all the characters, but I am glad they did. Seriously. I figured many more of them were toast.

I liked all of it, but I must admit the turning point into 'okay, cool' to 'OMG awesome' was Tyrol finding out about Callie and killing Tori. (exact quote from my notes: "Can we kill Tori? Can we? Yes, we Can!") Fuck, I'm glad Calle got a good revenge. That followed by Kara finding "Earth" and the flashbacks coming back, and them all in the grass! And, yeah.

From Adama and Roslin watching the gazelles I was a complete teary mess, through Kara and Lee til Adama on the hill at the end. So many tears. Mom and Dad got a good send off.

I was really hoping for a Kara/Lee happy ending, but as soon as that flashback resolved its self you kinda saw where they were going. ("Honey, I really think I'm starting to like your brother" *dies* hilarious, but as subtle as a brick). There weren't going to get a happy ending together. *sniff*

I do think it's interesting whether Kara just left, although given the manner of her disappearance in an open field, I'm going to say that's unlikely ... or if, I don't know, really. She was an angel? We don't really know? I'm okay with that actually.

Also, OMG Lee in that field was the most awesome he has been in quite some time, with the smiles and the care-free. <3!

All those flashbacks worked damn well in the end, a turning point for them that put them on the path. I loved that Gaius's 'farming' came back at the end, and I even enjoyed the flashback that Boomer got. That hit me harder than I'd thought.

Kara and Lee's flashback was a little different, but I guess gave them a Kara/Lee moment without putting the together at the end, which in the circumstances wouldn't have really worked sadly.

Loved when Caprica and Gaius realised they both saw head versions of themselves. Hilarious.

Part of me was always a little worried Six and Gaius were going to take away Hera though. And that opera house thing did resolve its self quite awesomely, with the final five up the top at the end.

Cavill shooting himself was a little easy, but then I guess, there was no way he was getting out of there. Revenge though?

One surprising thing, I reacted quite strongly to them almost killing Helo. (Notes quote: "OMG I am not okay with Helo!death" and then "oh thank fuck, Helo"). I am not his biggest fan, at all, and I thought I'd be okay with this death, but apparently not.

Admiral Hoshi! Aw. <3

President Lampkin was a little WTF though. They had to get him in here somewhere I guess, and I'm happy they did really.

I was waiting for the twist at the end, and we got it, sorta. Another Earth? Our Earth, I think. And then the whole 'wlll robots take over OMG.' Kinda hilarious really. Perhaps unneccessary though, and that RDM cameo was just off, though I guess if you didn't know what he looked like it would have been okay.

Um, so, yeah, I thought it was awesome. More thoughts to come, possibly.

Edit: Read some reaction, and wow, there were some people not happy. I count myself a Kara/Lee 'shipper but clearly not as much as some people. I get the disappointment, but I don't know, I could look past it? (Not saying its bad if you didn't, just that I did).

In retrospect, there also were some plausibility issues here are there which I had problems with that the start but had hand waved by the end. (Lee, them all breaking up seems like a stupid idea, but then again, the city idea didn't work so well first time around ...)

So, yeah, still think-y. A lot of people read it as anti-science, but uh, I do think the spiritual God element has been there for a long time, and I'm not surprised they went that route.

Also, someone rang me right in the middle of the OMG tears part of the finale. Hope that didn't come across in my voice too much.

Avoiding a lot of the internet (Twitter, Google Reader, friends list, US news sites) to prevent inadvertent spoilers took far too much effort. Also not helped by the fact that I have been feeling sick most of the weekend and haven't left the house (nothing too serious, just blocked up and with an annoying sore throat) so haven't had a huge amount to do.

However, I seem to have agreed to play indoor netball tonight. Hmm, that might not have the best idea, but I'd feel bad if they couldn't play. Edit: Two other girls were found so don't have to play! However, feel caffeine withdrawal kicking in and none in the house, might have to venture out.
