Am I wrongly suspicious of new guy friends who seem to be too interested in being my 'friend?' Should I take a chance anyway? Is it wrong to judge by their (rather poor, seems to me) career choices? Will I ever attract a successful (as in has a solid professional career and puts 'ambition' as a job skill on his resume) Asian guy who sees humor in ( Read more... )

Must it be asian? Just thought.

Nothing wrong with suspicious. Paranoid, yes. But you know me....overly oblivious to all and the majority of my friend are male so. And there is no wrong career choice if they are financially independent and happy. So yeah, might be wrong to judge them on it. Not wrong to have that as a reason against a relationship if it doesn't click for you. And somehow it'll work out and you'll attract the right types for you (or so I naively believe)

Umm...we exist for the entertainment of others? (Or that's what naz says is my purpose in life, well mostly entertaining her.)

It is never that god has abandoned us. But we need our own will. I'm fairly certain he was looking to make a mass of co-dependents.

42 is the answer to all. And all you base are belong to us.

The end.

You're right, I should quit being so paranoid! I mean, the guy in question isn't the guyfriend I have who's had 8 different jobs in the last four years (none of which acting related) and still thinks he's an "actor"...and he's definitely not the guy who decided to randomly call me up while reading a book on the Top Ten Best of Sexual Positions (I kid you not)...so I'm probably jumping the gun a little here.

oh girl, a guy like that would just wreck your self-esteem. my advice: ignore the guy and read the book "Top Ten Best of Sexual Positions" yourself. you'll likely get more out of it than he ever will.

well...yes, those 3 guys are not really the best representation I suppose. But considering you've only met him once, I mean, he's your mind for some reason. Altho the reasons here seem to be he's on your mind in a sense of paranoia and hand reaching for a restraining order.

You don't need to actively pursue this. Just take it as it comes and cut it off whenever you don't feel comfortable. Those weird awkward moments often become amusing fodder for stories later

For example, I cut it off when the line "I think I'm saving my virginity for you" came up.... because... obvious reasons make ending contact with said person a good decision. (Mind you, there was no romantic relationship or allusions to such with this person who I had only met 3 or 4 times) The most recent being a proposition from a professional photographer in India.... that was rather intense.... I think had he not been sending similar such invitations to hundreds of other women I would be more flattered.

Squirtle icon says to trust no one. KE KE KE KE KE~

Sounds kinda shady if he's got terrible career choices. Is he expecting to bum off someone? Even if he's got a nice personality, why does he not have a better career choice? SUSPIIICIOOUUUUUSSS~~~~

Not to say he's evil or anything but just be cautious how close you want to be to this guy or how close he's trying to get to you. That's just kind of freaky if he's looking 'too desperate'.

Exactly! Why has he been working two minimum-wage full-time jobs for the last, oh, 10 years or so, when he has a Business degree in MIS? Something went wrong there. Plus, he's shorter than me, lol. Although, now that I think about it, I should probably find out more before I completely blow him off as a total loss.

Have they been the same two jobs for the past ten years? Okay outside of his career choice" does he do anything else? Extensive hobbies, activist work? Is he a creative type who decided having freedom for personal pursuit was more important than power meetings and mad money?

I mean what you do isn't really who you are. And hey, many people don't have a reason to get ambitious, until they meet the right person. Then they wake up and are like "hey they're RIGHT I can do better than this".

Wow just a few long winded thoughts there. Achem. <3

Here's how much I'm jumping the gun--I've only met him once! So I have no idea! Except that the last girl he dated said he didn't have enough time between jobs to really do anything. He tells me he doesn't do much either except go to the gym and go home. However, he does know all the really cool spots in Houston, he IS about 40 or so, so I imagine there's more to this story than what's on the surface, knoe wat i mean, gurlfriend? I think what's getting me is that he keeps using the phrase, "We have a lot in common!" o_O;;
