So lately I have really been thinking about quiting the gallery in New Jersey. This wasn't a sudden thought, more of something I have come to gradually. Most of the reason is that I feel like I have put a lot in, but am not getting much out of it, and that not everyone is pulling there own weight (which is probably the bigger of the two). so this is how I see it, and you can feel free to ignore me if you think I'm being too much of a mom or that I don't know the full story.

there is stress, and there is strain. stress is a natural, pain in the ass part of our lives, and it's good for us. strain, on the other hand, isn't so healthy, and you need to ask yourself if your involvement is more of a stress or a strain in your life, you know?

it seems to me that you've been conflicted over NJ vs. Philly, and you have good reason to feel loyal to both, but maybe it would be good for you to keep seeking out more opportunities in Philly because it's really home now, it's where there are more opportunities, and you can network really easily. it will be more challenging, of course, because a lot of the spaces/groups/networks are already established, but that's also something that would be good for you to pursue. 1026, vox, copy gallery, cfeva, there's some new litho co-op shop or something too... there is such a wealth of fresh resources that you can pursue that may be socially taxing (going to a ton of openings, talking to strangers, sending opportunistic emails) but maybe not as personally taxing once you get involved.

I say, stick it out for one more show or event or whatever, and if it doesn't get any better, it's totally reasonable to say that it's just not for you.

anyway, how did your show go? do you have pics? I wanna see! call me any time you need a sis. xoxox
