And when I say 'seeing' I mean the sixty seconds of kissing I get to steal when this class is over, before I have to head down to English class. Sam lets me do that now. In the hall. Which sounds a little scandalous, but everyone knows that we're going out. I like it a lot, especially because after this I don't see him until the end of the day. I

Because we can't be working all the time. So breaks are pretty much mandatory. Long breaks, even. So he needs to get past this explaining it thing, and get to the good part.
"Daphne, Sam, you're going to be married in the sixties..."
Good, Carly and I are married in the sixties. Not a bad time.
Wait... That name didn't sound like 'Carly'. That name sounded like... Oh damn it, good feeling's gone. "Excuse me?" I couldn't do much more about the whole thing than blink. Daphne? The one damn time he decides to step out of the box on the whole alphabetical thing, and he pairs me with Daphne?!
She's not Carly! She's Daphne! I hate Daphne!
"Carly, Madsen, you're going to be married in the seventies..."You just... Cannot be freakin' serious. At all. What ( ... )

"Don't even. I'll just kill you and be done with it. Better yet, I'll just let her kill you, and be done with it."
I'd be okay with that.
"Dude, she's totally my wife now. Not yours."
"Not. Funny."
"Alright, alright, relax."
"Why the hell couldn't it be alphabetical?"
So Sam wanted to fake marry me. I think that's cute. I mean, compared to Daphne I guess he would be willing to fake marry anyone, but alphabetical means he wanted to fake marry me. It makes me even more mad to think that Stello is keeping us apart if Sam wanted to do the project with me as much as I wanted to do it with him.
...Keeping us apart? Having issues with who I'm supposed to marry and who I want to?
Yeah. That Romeo & Juliet comparison isn't going to go away anytime soon, damnit ( ... )

"... Huh?" I need to stop doing that. I do that a lot. It makes me look like an idiot. Sure, it's led to some good stuff, but still, I end up looking like an idiot.
"You research marriage in the seventies, Madsen can research marriage in the sixties. Then you turn the information in as your own and read off of it for the presentation."
That's sort of nothing we haven't done before. Trading off so things can get done with the least amount of pain for the both of us. This would be whenever we actually do schoolwork, by the way. And while that's not happening all the time, it is how we get things done.
So actually... That could work.
But I can tell he doesn't like the idea, because he knows that means working with Daphne. But it'd be easier for him to handle Daphne than it would be for me to handle Daphne. Because I'd much rather be with my girlfriend.
Not the Hairspray Junkie. It's just not going to work out for me.
"You know it'd be easier."
"But...""I know, but it's going to be hell either way, and this ( ... )

"That's not going to change, just--"
"Just deal and be all totally sarcastic at her when she's acting not cool."
"Exactly. So can you? I'll owe you. We'll do the--"
"No other words needed, dude. If we can get Hairspray Chick to go along with it, it's cool by me."
... Shouldn't you get some kind of warning before you enter into The Twilight ZoneThe finish each other's sentences? Sure, I know all about how they've been friends for a long time and are practically inseparable, but...they finish each other's sentences? Sam can think like Madsen? Like a...a Madsen ( ... )

"We'll do it." I agreed, and laughed a little at how freaked Carly looked. It really does only happen every once in a while. I think it's because we watch out for it, so we don't look weird.
"I'll try to talk to her about it during lunch."
"Good luck." I laughed, and smiled after kissing back, getting a little amazed at how fast I was comfortable with this. I didn't really date, or have girlfriends, until she came along.
And when I did, it was always weird for me. I never knew what worked. With her, just about everything seems to work. I'm not sure if I should get used to it, or just wait for something to happen.
Nothing goes perfect, but I hope this'll sort of be different.
"Dude."
"Yeah?"
"Can we just get going to class?"
"I'll meet you afterschool and tell you what she said.""Works for me." I kissed Carly before finally moving away, and started wishing we had more classes together. Like... All freakin' classes. The ones we do have together aren't enough. That's just it ( ... )
