I feel a little bad for Carly. She looks smart but acts dumb.

Carly came to this school a few weeks ago, and I was nice enough to take her under my wing. We have similar interests, and Noelle told me that she was pretty friendly in chorus. Noelle also said that Carly’s one of the few girls who might be considered competition in the Footloose auditions. Keeping an enemy close seemed like a good idea.

So after I befriend Carly and give her a rundown of who to talk to, and who to ignore, why the heck is she giving Sam Howell the time of day? She should realize that it looks bad for her to be seen around a guy like him. She’s the next Julia Roberts, and he’s nothing. He does nothing, he says nothing; most of the time my friends forget he exists. But Carly doesn’t seem to get that. We were walking past Sam in the hallway today, and she said hello.

Um, HELLO!

It doesn’t work like this. Pretty soon he’ll be saying hello to me too! Sam will think we all like him just because she’s dumb enough to be nice, and that’s not cool. It’s wrong. It’s taken me since seventh grade to get as many friends as I have, and they’re all going to think I do marijuana on the weekends!

We have rules against drugs at this school, we have the D.A.R.E program!
