Set in a sort of vague indiscriminate time period in 2010, taking in various international breaks? Whatever. It's about magical facial hair, don't bring me down with canon.

I was in a hurry to get out the door this morning and just wanted to leave a comment before I did, but I'm afraid I'm back to elaborate, ahaha. I really like the way you set up the structure, the implicit comparison of two similar situations, and how Villa reacts to that. (And can I just say that Cesc's "crushingly happy" expression softened a heart I did not think would be softening any time soon, ahem.) But primarily, in a shocking turn of events (ha), I clicked for the Villa-Silva interaction and you totally delivered, oh man. That's a great dynamic you gave them, my favorite detail being:

When David was suspicious of how quiet Silva was, when they both thought the other didn't like them very much.

This TOTALLY pings me right. As does the delicate balance between being happy and missing someone, or something.

Oh, David thinks, and gets kind of hot around the collar.

...okay, and I also liked this, ahem. That whole scene, actually. That is to say, re: your pairing disclaimer, YES I DO WANT THANKS, feel free at any time to write more that is less open to interpretation, cough cough. or just more like this! this is also fine!

...hi, nice to meet you, I am a little enthusiastic about this pairing all the time sometimes.

Also I was really cautious about writing Villa/Silva, because I really haven't got the hang of them yet, so it means a lot that you of all people approved.
