Drop away, I'm excellent at listening to fic ideas although occasionally a little slow in replying (sorry).

Amnesia trope is such a classic, and oh my god, I don't know if you read Lorna's Torres fic that she posted last week, if not, basically we LOVE the football version of the amnesia trope because it is so great at "PSYCH, HE NEVER TRANSFERRED, NEVER HAPPENED, LALALA" and let's face it that's all any of us want in transfer season.

Soooo we know next to nothing as well unfortunately because Lorna had a really long period of not really supporting them which only ended last summer. She may be able to give you some tidbits though e.g. he was bff with Mark Noble who we love forever and ever. I will remind her to come and mention anything she can here, but a better bet might be to browse old West Ham articles I think. I would love to jump on board with shipping SP but you know how you have some people who you just CAN'T ship with ANYONE? That's me and SP. Apart from platonically, or people having crushes on him heheh.

Final thought - I just started writing a new fic and I'm only 600 words in and have already worked in my Scott Parker reference :D

lazy sunday evening greetings from NYC! it's been a long, hectic weekend [full of good fun] and i can't think of much better to top it all off than a bit of Scott Parker-ing. especially since we're to be deprived of him for another month... [insert all the sadface here].

amnesia trope may, in fact, be my favorite trope. that, and magical realism. and meta! and awkward sex. okay. stopping now. and i loved lorna's torres fic- oh god, just the thought of jonas and andy carroll's ponytail bromance still slays me.

thanks for the link to the west ham blog, i'll definitely do some digging around there and see what i come up with. he's such a fascinating character in a lot of ways, that scott parker. it seems like his career kicked off to such a promising start and then for some reason he kind of ended up languishing in mid- to bottom-of-the- table teams until a few seasons ago when he caught everyone's attention again. that's something i'd like to explore. i think using the amnesia trope is a perfect way to kind of examine how he's been dealing with all this newfound attention and lavish praise.

and i totally hear you about the shipping thing. i'm totally like that too - mario balotelli is probably the best example of this for me. i just want gen, crack fic about all of his capers. i could cry forever that there isn't any. jamie redknapp is kind of the best i could come up with for SP, because WHO DO YOU SHIP HIM WITH? i had a whole meltdown [okay, i exaggerate] about this very issue during football slash's pimp my OTP week: england edition. the best i could come up with was jamie redknapp, for some reason, because they're very friendly and hang out in london and go on holiday together and he used to play for his dad and on and on and on. but with the way the story's been tumbling out so far, i think it's going to end up gen anyway.

scott parker references forever! i saw him lurking in lorna's fic too! can't wait to pick him out! what are you writing?

one of these days i'm going to get around to making an open scott parker post on my journal with copious amounts of pictures and flailing and random ideas for AUs. you and lorna are, like, totally invited. :)
