Sorry its been so long!
Hey u all! I am officially up and running! Its taken about 3 months...sorry!! Most of ya'll have talked to me...but if not, I am having a wonderful time at Tougaloo. The last journal entry said that I was so sad and upset about leavin OS...but Seniors...its great! You will miss the fun times with ur friends...but you are going to have a blast in college!
I am currently part of the SGA here at Tougaloo College. I am also Miss Freshman...so therefore I am part of the SGA. My job is to help publicize for Mr. and Miss Tougaloo, my Freshman Class and the SGA. Its a lot of work...but I had to get involved or I was goin to go nuts. I had to run for Miss Freshman...it was long...and dreadful but in the end...it was great.
Tougaloo is really small...it was once a slave plantation and was bought by many owners. The last owner was disgusted with the brawling of the blacks....fornification, adultery was goin on. This was mostly because the slave owners discouraged family ties..and were blacks wanted love...found it in other ways...but anyways....this particular owner decided WHAT BETTER WAY TO CORRECT THESE MISHAPS BUT BY MAKING IT A CHRISTIAN COLLEGE. So that is the history of how we became a school. Tougaloo is an Indian name that means "A fork between two streams".
Now that u kno the history...no one's really heard of Tougaloo unless u've lived in Jackson or knew about what Tougaloo does for African Americans. Tougaloo is number 6 in sending Blacks to Medical School!! Many doctors on the coast that are African American went to Tougaloo or heard of the school. I am proud to say that I will be one of those if the Lord is willing!
I came home October 7th when OS played Moss Point. I saw a lot of peeps and it was great to be home. I won't be home until Thanksgiving...so those that read this...I hope to see u unless u go out of town. I am so excited about school...I didnt think I would be this excited!
I miss everyone tho...Highschool was definately the best time of my life! Everything that happened...good or bad...I miss it so much! You will soon appreciate all of that tho when u go off....:)
