I know the con's over...
Inspired by
tig_b's Universal Follower Song, which she sang on Saturday, I found myself writing this...
MY UNIVERSAL FOLLOWER
TTTO: "Universal Soldier" by Buffy St. Marie
It's four lines per verse and it's six verses long
And sung to a tune you've heard before,
And it uses four chords like many another song,
And can be followed by many thousands more.
It's inspired by the Discworld, or by the Dorsai,
Darkover or the cute dragons of Pern.
It tells of Harry Potter, it tells of Firefly,
And of all those things we still have to learn.
It's inspired by Star Trek, or by Babylon Five,
The Terminator films, and Vampires too.
It tells of ancient magic or a struggle to survive,
Or things a super hero finds he can't do...
It's a song about fantasy, a song about space,
A song of the adventures of my cat,
A song about the future of the whole human race,
And Heaven knows, we need to think of that.
But without it I could never have joined the Tolkien run,
Without I'd have had no Buffy song,
It's some verses that help me join in all that circle fun,
And without it I just couldn't sing along.
It's my Universal Follower, so it's not my best song yet,
But I've been waiting for a chance to take the floor,
Listening to him and her and that whole set - but please do not forget,*
This is *not* the follower I sang before...
