Con Report from Ersatzburg - AWIOPPFFSOF

Oct 11, 2010 01:56

It was Friday when we started to gather at the castle in Erstatzburg for awioppffsof. The weather held whilst the early arrivals wandered around, checking out the bar, the expansive moat, a fine fungi collection in the dungeons and the small dragon preserve around the back, which offered some rather nice light shows as the evening drew in.

There was a little confusion early on when some of the members didn't realise the concom was running on BST, but we took it all in our stride as pbristow opened the con.

There were introductions, some songs and harp playing, crafting and some really rather good costumes.

Saturday dawned early, but most of us ignored it. Fasts were broken, caffeine was imbibed. There were songs old and new (and I really must learn German), story telling, more crafting and fun.

Sadly, my Saturday was marred slightly by John escaping the Kids Room and causing a certain amount of panic as we searched the castle and environs, until he was found safe and sound hiding behind a chair in a little used wing. Next time*, I'm going to suggest we utilise the oubliette.

Attendance on Sunday was a bit patchy, but the nature of the con allowed for us to catch up on the bits/people we missed as time permitted. Good news was passed along, and eventually Paul closed up the con with a few well chosen words and reassurances about the spatio-temporal arrangements.

Some of us wondered what was going on at the Dead Thingy (not much it seems), but it was all good.

Thanks Paul, this was great, and I had a laugh, and even sang along in places. I look forward to awioppffsof2 (*there will be a next time, right?).
