Thoughts On FAKE (+Life Update)

May 01, 2015 22:56

So I took a few days off to spend a long weekend with my boyfriend (!!!) but of course I got sick so now I'm at home with the flu and won't see him for another week. Which SUCKS. But, trying to see something positive in my current situation, at least I have a little free time to get back on LJ. It's been way too long!
But as you may know, I'm usually working on Saturdays so that leaves only the Sunday for everything I don't have time for during the week. And since I'm in a long-distance relationship (!!!!), I use these "weekends" (that don't even deserve the word) to spend time with my boyfriend. So I basically have no freetime anymore. *laughs hysterically*

Anyways, here I am! :'D
And I want to celebrate my re-appearance with something I wanted to start long ago. It's a mini-series called "Thoughts On FAKE" in which I share little things I noticed about FAKE that I find mentionable.

To give you an example, here's the first one:

Have you ever noticed how the eye colours of the protagonists match their characters?

Dee has green eyes - which obviously stands for hope because he never gives up. He might not always come across as optimistic but I think he is. Just remember how long he waited for Ryo to love him back. Or how determined he always was to become a cop even though he was probably not a star student and had a difficult background. And so on.

Ryo has black eyes - which stands for mystery and denial. His true nature is a mystery to Dee and even to himself. And once he starts to realise it, he tries to deny it. I'm sure his sexuality is not the only aspect where Ryo pretends to be a different person than he really is, just because he always tries to be perfect.

Carol has green eyes - which again stands for hope. Like Dee, she is a very optimistic and confident person who strives for her goals and is not afraid to ask for what she wants - sometimes in a nice way, sometimes with dirty tactics. But whatever she does, she is always convinced that it will turn out okay.

Last but not least, Bikky has blue eyes - blue like freedom. Bikky craves freedom, he doesn't like school and wishes he could be outside with his friends all day, doing whatever they want. But at the same time, he knows what real "freedom" feels like because his parents probably didn't look after him a lot, so yes, he could do whatever he wanted, but he also had to manage everything on his own. So now that he lives with Ryo, he is torn between a safe home and the wish for total freedom.

And so on. I'm sure you could find similar metaphors for all the other characters as well. At least for those that we know the eye colour of ;)
