Going from bad to worse: Our beloved cat Steffi isn't going to live very long anymore. 1 year would be the absolute most, the vet said. But if she doesn't get better until the end of this week, she'll be put to sleep on Friday

*Hugs* I know how it feels to face that decision over a beloved pet. I'm so sorry everything is piling up on you at the moment, I just hope things will get better, that Steffi will improve and that you'll be able to enjoy your trip.

Thank you. I never had to make a decision like this - our guinea pigs simply died when they were old.
Well, things can only get better from here. At least I hope so.

It's a tough decision, I had to make it for my eight and a half year old rabbit last year, but I know I did what was best for him, that's some comfort.

I've had many guinea pigs, they're my pet of choice! I'd have guinea pigs now if I didn't have mum to look after.

That's true. It would be selfish to let our beloved pets suffer for a long time just because we don't want to let go of them.

Guinea pigs were my first pets, we got them when I was in primary school :) But to be honest, I find them a bit, well, boring xD But I'd love to have rats one day. Maybe they will be my next pets. But for now, there's still Steffi and we'll enjoy our last time with her without thinking too much about the future. *sob*

Guinea pigs are actually really smart, can be trained over small jumps and taught other tricks.
