Time

I just came home from school where I had philosophy in the last lesson - we talked about the topic "Time". More specifically about how we always feel like we don't have enough time and like our life is too short, and what one can do against it, and so on. You can discuss so much about time, and I could go on and on about this topic, but I don't have the TIME right now. ;)

Anyway, this connects perfectly to what I'm going to write now, because this post will be a little time analysis. About Fake, of course (what else did you expect? ;D). My question is: How much time passed between the first and the seventh volume, so how long did Dee have to wait for Ryo? (I know that there are already many great and very plausable analyzes about this issue done by other fans, but I just feel the urge to make my own.)

Okay, so the first specific mention of the season is in the last chapter of Volume 1, when Bikky and Carol go to summercamp. In the end of the chapter 4, it becomes clear in the conversation of Bikky and Dee that Ryo was sick while the kids were away, which means that chapter 3 and 4 took place at exactly the same time. Therefore, in chapters 1 and 2, it must have been spring or early summer.

In chapter 1 of Volume 2, it's still summer: Dee and Ryo go on vacation in England and apparently, Bikky and Carol still have summer holidays because they can easily follow and join them without having to worry about school. The following chapters take place in autumn and early winter, until in the second chapter of Volume 3, it's christmas time.

But in the first chapter of Volume 4, I assume that the winter is already over because nobody is wearing any warm clothes anymore. It fits that in the chapters before and after, it seems to be summer as well. But I believe that in the last chapter of this volume, it's already getting colder again: Dee gets sick and nobody is wearing summer clothes anymore. But it can't be winter already because JJ says that it's "beautiful outside" and suggests to "go sit on a park bench".

So the fifth volume starts in autumn / winter. A proof for this is that still, summer clothes seem to be out of season, as well as the fact that when Ryo and Dee come home after their unpleasant meeting with Leo Grant, Dee states that "it's chilly". (Besides, even Diana is wearing warm clothes for once, lol.)

The following chapters take place in winter / spring, until with the beginning of Volume 6, it's obviously warmer again. Evidence for this is the crowded park where Carol meets the painting Mister Jackson and where the trees are green once again. The last chapter in Volume 6 is the only one where we know the exact date: it's the fifteenth of october (just have a look at the short conversation of Ryo and Drake at the beginning).

There must be a huge gap between the sixth and seventh volume because in the very last chapter of the series, Bikky and Carol are already gone to summercamp. According to Dee's inner monologue in the beginning of this chapter, only three weeks have passed since the chapter before, which means that it was already summer back then.

To conclude this, one can see that it's the fourth summer since Ryo came to the precinct and became Dee's partner, so Dee had to wait more than four years for him! Damn, that's what I call patience! (Or maybe just desperate love.)
(By the way, I kind of left out the chapters about Bikky and Carol a bit because Sanami Matoh herself said in one volume (I forgot which one) that their age changes several times within the series.)

I hope you find my analysis plausible! :D It's a bit like writing an English exam, haha.
