A Brooklyn man who was rejected by the Police Academy after responding yes to the application question “Should homosexuals be locked up?” is now suing the NYPD.
The man, identified only as Fahran Doe, is a Muslim, and asserts that by denying him a job, the NYPD is discriminating against him on the basis of his religious views. “The First Amendment is very clear,” said Doe’s lawyer, “saying that you can’t discriminate against someone because they have a view you do not like.” The irony of this statement is apparently lost on him.
The NYPD maintains that his bias against gays is enough to disqualify him from becoming an officer.
