This time, I'll show you how to add colour to black/white manga scans. Of course, there are various ways to do it, but I'll explain to you the way I do it. :)
You need:

I don't have time to try this coloring tutorial now, but it's good to know it's there for when I;m ready.

So yeah, feel free to use it!
I experimented quite a while with the colours in this pic until I was satisfied with the result. I wanted it to look tender, but not feminine; romantic, but not cheesy; and passionate, but not too colourful.

Once you've tried out the tutorial, tell me if it works - and if it does, I'll appreciate you showing me the result, of course. :)

I never thought that you could turn up at my LJ! :D Well, welcome, anyway. And when you like my tutorial, I think it tells me that I must have done it right. ;)
By the way, do you use Gimp for your colourings, too? Or photoshop?

I noticed Brit uploaded a new shiny Fake icon and just had to find out who coloured it, because I fell in love with it!
Yes! I think this tutorial is simple and easy to follow and I'm going to try it out with Gimp and I think it may even be easy to transfer to PSP..
I use Paint Shop Pro and Gimp for colouring manga and Photoshop for finishing off. I have improved a little with shading and now learning to vector so I hope to get back into Fake colouring very soon! ^_^d

Wow, I didn't know you use three programs. I only use Gimp.
Yeah I think I should also start to improve my shading skills a bit... I always have the feeling that I overdo it when I shade something, and then I'm never happy with the result. :/
Anyway, I'll be looking forward to more coloured FAKE icons from you! :)
