In a book of such rich and interesting language, there are many beautiful passages and lines. What line from the book is your favourite? Why? After my third reading I went back and made a list of all my favourites, and I can narrow it down to two, both from Alex:

The inspiration for this community's name, of course - "I imagine a line, a white line, painted on the sand and on the ocean, from me to you." (pg. 215, paperback edition)

"I observed that the hero had small rivers descending his face, and I wanted to put my hand on his face, to be architecture for him." (pg. 154 " ")

Those were by far the two most powerful images in the book for me. I am most intrigued (and heart-broken) by the phrase "to be architecture for him". Does anyone have thoughts as to what that means? It's so queer and beautiful; a good expression of Alex and Jonathan's relationship, I think.

Anyhow. Thoughts?
