You leave the *BEST* comments! I <3 them!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

The Clint I keep coming back to is very much like the one here - he *doesn't* hold anything back, it's that devotion to the Beloved - she is IT for him. It's probably an overly romantic and highly unrealistic set of feelings, but I love these two best when they're *completely* devoted to one another, where they've made each other their reason and their... center, perhaps? That's not quite the right word, but it's close. It's not all that healthy in the real world, I know, but for them it works. And fits in, for me, with the idea that she would give up the world for him, if she had to (because I whole-heartedly believe that if she had some way to guarantee that Loki wouldn't trick her? And he gave her that deal/bargain? That she would take it, that she was prepared to trade everything for his safety.)

And Clint, of course... well he kind of just drifted, he had the job, and his skill, but those things aren't enough. They're soulless and aimless in the end (ironic as he's an archer.) She gives him a direction, and once he decides that she's his true north, of course he won't hold back. He offers himself up to her, to take or leave because that's the only way it can work with this particular iteration of the two of them.

I can't wait to dig in and see what her matching offer looks like. :D

centre is a good word for it, but maybe more like how an atom works? protons and neutrons are surrounded by all this orbiting energy of electrons that buzz and move with purpose seeking out similar energies to bond with and create new molecules. when they do combine the singular is now a pair and inextricably linked. ... i think the trick is them learning the balance of living in love and that state being just as good, if not better, than dying for it.

YES TO ALL OF THIS. And the atom metaphor is seriously beautiful! :D ::LOVES THIS COMMENT/OBSERVATION::

And I whole-heartedly agree about learning to live with it - for people like them I think dying for love? That's much easier. But living in love is so much better. :)
