It wasn't too long ago when Angel L. Lopez Jr. gave me his card...Music for all occasions...Trumpet...Performance and Instruction. Why not start a band?
Thats just what we did, we recruited the best out of the Buff State big band to form a sextet. At first I wasn't sure if this was going to last because one of our Music professors would walk in and just give us a strange look while we were playing. But then we started to get settled in our little practice room and we noticed people standing outside listening, I started to get excited. We all wanted gigs, and to play. The piano player, Tom, (also known as Louis Armstrong due to his smiles and ecstatic nature) is a grandfather! and he has been playing his whole life, needless to say he's very good. In fact they are all way older, and very good, either teaching, or going there for music. This is just what I needed, it is incredible, it sounds pathetic but I feel really honored to play with these guys because I have no idea whats going on when we're playing, there is so much to learn. We currently named ourselves "BJ-PACT" or Buffalo Jazz Pact, yeah it's pretty cheesy, but it's catchy and will have to work for now.
We have 3 shows lined up, 2 of which are just backround music things but the one is at the ONE HOUR GALLERY on Elmwood. We are playing for a Professor I had last semester who is having a Comic/graphic art opening. This is so great,
If anyone is interested in going, which you should, let me know, if not then get your own gig, I won't go.
Speaking of art openings, go see Colleen's and friends photography show at Upton Hall at Buffalo State, if you get there soon enough, there are still some cupcakes left over from the opening. get there while supplies last.
That's it
