Paradise Lost So, this was how it was all going to end? …It sucked.
For years they had fought to stay alive and this was set to be their last stand. Evil had won and there wasn’t anything left for then to do about it. They had fought with everything they had, but in the end it had come to nothing!
Preparing to die wasn’t easy. They had faced death many times before, but each time they had, there had been a part of them that wouldn’t give up, a part of them that refused downright to believe that they were going to die. That feeling was gone now; all hope was lost.
They stood side by side, staring up at the reason behind all the death and destruction: Lucifer, the Devil himself.
“You should have said yes,” he said as he smiled down at them both.
Looking at each other Dean and Sam didn’t know whom he was talking to, but it was Dean that answered.
“Never!”
Lucifer shook his head slowly, “Shame, at least you had the chance to survive… not for long, mind you, but you can’t say I’m not fair. Now there’s no one left,” he looked around at the empty church before looking back down at the brothers, “you’re all alone with nobody left to save you.”
An almighty crash thundered throughout the abandoned church. Debris flew in all directions, whipping up a stifling cloud of dust. They coughed as they struggled to catch their breath; the dust creating a dense veil that blocked their vision. Neither of them could see the other, let alone what or who had blown apart the heavy, wooden doors.
Letting the dust settle, they both rubbed their eyes, allowing their vision to readjust and take in the scene before them. Nether believing what they saw, they turned to look at each other before falling back on their ‘would be’ saviours.
Lucifer looked to the two women and grimaced. They weren’t meant to be here. This was a problem he hadn’t expected or planned for, a problem he’d have rather dealt with another time. He walked backwards slowly towards a dimly lit corner and as he drew closer he began to meld with the shadows, his body melting in to the black; within moments he was gone, swallowed by the darkness.
Dean and Sam watched in fascination as the two women came to a halt in front of them. One was a tall brunette and the other was a small blonde. Neither of them showed any fear as they approached the brothers. Dean scanned the blonde standing in front of him, his eyes were drawn to the weapon she was holding, a rather impressive looking scythe. The brunette halted in front of Sam, looking from the blonde back to them she smiled and said:
“Hello, boys.”
