Woman I'd take into a fight: Kara Thrace

Oct 28, 2010 21:41

Here is what I know about people in my corner of fandom: they never get tired of posts about Kara Thrace. Especially if there are pictures. Coincidentally, right now I'm doing a 'favorite fictional female character' meme on my LJ, so this all works together quite nicely.

Kara Thrace: she fights until she can't )

theme: take with you into a fight, tv: battlestar galactica

Kara was never my favorite on that show (I'm more into politics than pilots), but you did highlight some great moments for her. :)

(Incidentally, this wound up in the moderation queue because of the link at the end, probably. I've added it to the comm's whitelist of links so this one won't send up a red flag again.)

I just wish I had more time, so I could've grabbed some more caps. But real life intervenes with fannish activities, alas.

That Britta icon never fails to make me smile, by the way.

You picked some great caps. :) (For mine, I had to restrain myself from quoting the show even more than I did. It probably helped that most of the episodes my character was in haven't been transcribed anywhere that I could find, so I had to do it myself. And transcribing West Wing is hard.)

And I'm glad you like the icon. I have another version that's animated with all three of the Community ladies with paintball gear, but the Britta shot was my favorite.

Is that Summer Glau in your icon?

Yup, sure is.

Different from me, then--I started by watching the Kara & Karl buddy cops show, and never stopped loving her character. Though I do consider myself an ensemble fan first and foremost, to be honest.

I think I loved Kara more at the beginning of the show than towards the end, but I think I just about adored her relationship with Roslin. The faith in her, but also the ability to say to her face when the president was doing seriously goofy things.

Yeah, Kara and Laura had some fascinating interactions. Wish there had been more time with those two onscreen together.

Also, hee! Your icon! *grins*

Roslin was so easy to icon-ize

Ahh, Kara... I had a strange love-hate relationship with her during the series [especially 3rd season -- the long hair screwed with her mind, man!], but she was certainly a fascinating woman to watch...

Never heard that theory before ;)

It's a personal theory, and I haven't much talked about it. I really should go back and rewatch the entire run and see if my theory really does hold any kind of water.

But the minute they hit New Caprica and she started growing out her hair [and getting mindfrakked by Leoben, in spades], she went all batshit crazy, but when she died and came back as whatever kind of special snowflake she was, it kind of leveled out a bit.

Huh, there was a direct correlation between cutting her hair and less craziness... and then the quadrangle of doom happened, so I'm afraid your theory doesn't work anymore! Heh.
