[Well. It's been a tough week (Scott forgot how much he hated camping and stuff), but now Scott's in a cave. He's turning on the gear, while looking a bit perplexed.] Hey... shouldn't we have HM05, or something? I mean, it's good near the entrance here... but it might be darker when I get further on, or something.

It'll get dark, but I have something that can help.

[She throws a Pokéball to the ground, and out came her Houndoom, Gideon.]

He's part-fire type. He can keep things lit for us.

He's pretty strong. His other type is Dark, so he learns a good deal of interesting moves.

You think so? You just got that thing not too long ago, and I've been training Gideon for a while. I think Clawgrips wouldn't stand a chance.

[Scott grabs his Pokeball, and tosses it to the ground.] Go, Clawgrip! [And out comes the Kingler, bubbling a little.]

Gideon, you know what to do. [The Houndoom nods; Ramona's talking about the first move she usually has him do. He rears his head upwards, and lets out a large howl - it echoes throughout the cave, and when his head comes down, he has a determined look on his face.

Gideon's ATTACK went up!]

It... howled? [Scott pondered to himself, before looking down to his Kingler.] Well, there's lots of mud around here... use Mud Shot! [The Kingler stopped bubbling, and grabbed some mud in one of his claws, looking at the Houndoom with a semi-determined look. And then -- it threw it, with great strength.]

[Gideon turned his head just in time - the mud hit him on the side of the face, barely missing his eyes. That would've been pretty bad. Other than the fact his speed was lowered!]

Now for the other attack!

[With that, Houndoom billowed smoke right out of his nostrils and mouth, aiming them directly at and around the Kingler. It didn't always work, but Ramona hoped it would poison the target - that would tilt the scales in her favor. Once Kingler used a water move, it could be over quickly for her.]

[Scott paused a tiny bit, looking at the smog-like thing coming for Kingler.] Use that Protect-thingie! Now!
[Kingler bubbled a little, and it brought its' claws firmly in front of it. Suddenly, a glow surrounded the crab Pokemon, and it let out a slight battle cry. Ramona, meet Scott's fave move ever.]

[It wasn't visible to Scott, but Ramona was mildly surprised by Scott's quick reaction. But the battle was far from over. She'd just try something else.] Bite it! [Gideon rushed towards the Kingler, determined to bite it somewhere with its immensely sharp teeth.]

[Scott. Are you seriously trying that again? Protect isn't good if you use it over-and-over. Like now, see? Your Kingler is clearly getting bitten and hurt by that Bite. And it looks angry.]

[She'll have to remember this. Protect won't work so well if you use it repeatedly. But now it was time for more attacking.] Bite it again! [Because she knows the longer this drags on, the closer those water attacks are going to come.]

[As Scott points at his Pokemon, Kingler grabbed at the Houndoom gripping to him, his claw turning a pale white.]
