Now, I am a very liberal person.
Also, I have never supported Bush. Personally, I believe him to be insincere and not suited for president, there was always something manipulative about him.
What I do not understand is how people can even blame Bush for hurricane Katrina. It was a natural disaster. A mishap of bad weather patterns. All we can do is help those who have lost everything they have. Instead we are arguing over whether or not our president is a racist. Yes, that's genuine of us. I wonder what would have happened if the hurricane had occured in Florida? Would we be accusing Bush of hating senior citizens? Now, I suggest we all get our act together here. New Orleans, Louisiana, both states with a black population. Known for the amazing culture, the Harlem renaisannce. It is true, there still are people who are racist in the world, however, it is amazing the journey African Americans have come from the schackles of slavery. We are almost at equality. Almost. If more people were loving, and were helping in this situation, instead of tearing each other to pieces to proove their point, we'd be there.
Keep a thought for those who have lost everything.
Better yet,
DO SOMETHING.
other than argue of how the situation could have been dealt with.

well, for one thing, a couple of years ago, bush vetoed a law that would have called for the restoration and renovation of the levees that broke because of hurricane katrina, causing all of new orleans to flood.

and of course, hindsight is 20/20. but if bush would have researched a bit more (or even got his cronies to do it for him), maybe, just maybe, he would have chose to worry about that more than his war expenses.

of course, we can't blame bush for what he could have done in the past. we can't do it for 9/11, or the wmds, or anything like that. least of all a silly little bill that anyone could have vetoed.

BUT the fact remains that the reaction to a natural disaster on our soil was so slow, and the fact remains that victims down there are JUST NOW getting the help they need. why did it take so long? and WHY are some people trying to excuse these facts in any way?

this is our country. no matter the race, no matter the poverty line, no matter any of that. so many of our fellow citizens died, and for some reason, people turned a blind eye for awhile. we can't blame bush for what happened, but we can blame him for his delayed response. so i agree that we shouldn't argue about how it could have been dealt with. but we can criticize how it is being dealt with at present and try to change it.
