The ESC final day is here! And it's really-really hard to predict what will happen. Mostly the right songs got the final places and the average quality is very good. It's gonna be really exciting! (The 2nd semi results were already too exciting - Greece and Norway mentioned last, phiuh!) Here is some kind of a list of what would happen if I could give the points - don't mind the numbers, they are there just to make the reading easier:
1. Norway - poor Alexander, he must have enormous pressures on his shoulders as there’s already some arena booked in Oslo for May 2010! Still the "average opinion" seems to have changed not to favour him too much anymore, so I’m becoming a bigger fan of Norway, he’s such a sunshine. They also have a promising number in the final: 20th.
1. Greece (I still have trouble putting these two in right order) - I just love Sakis's positive attitude, his jumps and the song, but the stage show is a bit too perfect, if you know what I mean, but I guess such thing has never been a disadvantage in ESC. The sound could have been a bit better. And please all the victory-confident Creeks hold on to your horses. Number 8 isn’t a good place to be, but there are lots of ballads in the beginning. I might vote for him, even though I never vote. He's still my number one favourite and I'd like to see him winning.
For me to click3. Azerbaijan - they still have the package very well together and the song sounds good, but I miss some originality
4. Bosnia-Herzegovina - the stage presence is a bit stiff, but the singing is great, I miss some warmth in them as they say they’re singing about love
5. Iceland - very very beautiful, I love the blue stage and the voice, I guess most "Nordic votes" go to Norway and Iceland - not because of neighbour-love but the similar taste
6. Estonia - beautiful, the stage show is well done, me likes
7. Israel - it’s very pretty, but is that enough?
8. Portugal - the stage show is colourful and nice, the song is positive and pretty
9. Spain - it’s a basic catchy ESC song, but it lacks something
10. France - many people seem to think this could win, but I think the song is too difficult, so after one listening it’s probably just boring, even though the singer is amazing
11. Ukraine - the show is great and convincing but it’s also aggressive and messy, so I don’t want to see this anywhere close to the first place but I have a really bad feeling it’s gonna be there
12. Finland - the semifinal performance went really well and if they do the same in finals, they can’t be at the bottom, but also not at the very top, gotta love our fire-protected boys Niko and Kasmir :)
13. Russia - to me it sounds like she can’t sing and doesn’t have a decent melody until the chorus, the yelling is pretty irritating, I don’t like this song but Russia always gets lots of neighbour votes
14. Romania - probably a bit too simple to succeed, but I like the positiveness and the singer’s shoes still amaze me
15. Turkey - this feels kind of fake, don’t know why, I’d say no chances of winning
16. Armenia - this is kind of boring after all
17. Malta - pretty singing, but oh so boring
18. UK - we’re not in a musical but in ESC, so even Mr. Webber on stage doesn’t help
19. Albania - the girl doesn’t sing well enough, the song is not good enough and the show is weird
20. Moldova - I think this is boring even if it’s loud
21. Denmark - it’s a sing-along-song, but that’s all
22. Lithuania - probably favourited by jurys, but it just makes me sleepy, yawn
23. Croatia - can’t see why this got voted into final, probably the famous neighbour votes
24. Sweden - it’s jury favourite, definitely not mine, I think it’s horrible
25. Germany - fake and irritating and everything but tasteful, zero points from me
The victory prediction is now this: 25% Norway, 20% Greece, 15% Ukraine, 10% Azerbaijan, 5% Bosnia-Herzegovina, 5% Spain, 3% France, 3% Iceland, 3% Israel, 3% Estonia, 3% Portugal, 5% some of the other 14 songs
It's amazing how the performing number effects the result. In both semifinals of the 7 last performances (14 songs) only TWO didn't get to finals. This would predict good chances for Spain (25th), Ukraine (21th) and Norway (20th).
And other things than the songs: I think the second semi looked like it had a better director than the first one. Or then it was just my imagination. But hopefully it continues tonight. I already saw a glimpse of the starting show tonight. It's Dima of course. :D Looked cool.
Have a nice evening everyone!
