Finnish Emma music awards 2008 were given tonight. Egotrippi was most victorious: they won the pop album, the best album and the band categories. The weirdest thing was that Lauri Tähkä & Elonkerjuu won the Finnish artist/band chosen by public award - for the third year in a row!!! Can't understand it. In my humble opinion Von Hertzen Brothers did something awesome last year and should have got the best band trophy (and not Egotrippi). Or at least the best rock album (which went to Apulanta). Oh well, jurys always choose wrong. And usually the public too. :D
If you want some proof of the greatness of VHB, listen Somewhere in the Middle or Experience
here. Those songs were played LIVE in studio last December, so this is what you hear on a gig. Experience is an older song, SITM was released in 2008. And if you ask me, SITM was the best Finnish song released in 2008... (Note: the album version is better because it's been sung higher!)
After Emmas I changed the channel to watch the Swedish ESC final. I hadn't seen all the finalists but somehow I had managed to find a favourite:
E.M.D.'s Baby goodbye. My first (bad) impression was Il Divo, but somehow it turned so that I couldn't help liking them. :D The first guy who sings looks very much like Mr.T. And they are very sympathetic outside the stage too. In the final they had white suits and they threw their hats off in the beginning and took red roses from their pockets in the end. Lovely. :)
But of course also Swedes chose wrong. Both the jurys and the public. Those guys got third.
The winner was probably the worst of the 11 finalists they had, but well, that's only my humble opinion...
