The Cruz Apartments
Quick Review:
A large section of rooms found somewhere in the Spades Castle. No one really knows where the apartments are besides the Face Cards and the castle staff since all the Cruz has been known to keep that to themselves. If one wants to go there, they need to ask a Cruz to lead them through the path that has winding passages and sudden twists and stairs and all the other neat little things that’s designed to throw off the outsider’s inner compass.
Luxuriant but practical, the rooms are well furnished and filled with items that show both wealth and functional style. Rumor has it that it was granted to the founder of the clan, Jian Cruz, by the King of Spades when he was installed to the throne when the last one mysteriously died but those are just rumors. It is all but fact that there are booby traps installed in the apartments to keep outsiders out of there. Shing, before he died, had some removed but not all.
Majority of the family lives here though there are some Cruz who live in Town or somewhere else in the Spades Castle for personal reasons.
Rooms of note:
Living room - Where the family entertain other Cards if there are any other Cards at all.
Bedrooms*x - Where the family members sleep or did personal things. Unless stated, all bedrooms look like the picture provided.
Bathrooms - Where the family members take care of their needs here. Unless stated, all bathrooms look like the picture provided.
Dao-Ming and Shing K’s rooms*x - Contains a bedroom, bathroom and a writing room where the couple can have their private meetings. Where the two slept and did personal things until Shing’s death in 2011. Dao-Ming doesn't spend a lot of time here anymore since this is where Shing died from apparent 'normal' causes.
Libraryx - Where readings and sometimes studying is held. The television that has programs from the Outside is also found here.
Meeting room*x - Where the family converge and have their discussions on important matters. Only Cards that are above the rank of Five are allowed in these meetings.
Classroom - Where the children get their education at the age of eight. They spend a lot of time here due to a strict 10+ hour schedule that starts at 6 AM in the morning. Subjects include history of the Deck, etiquette, how Challenges and Ranking work, families of the Deck, chemistry, reading and writing and etc. Heirs and heiress have slightly different schedules which includes learning self-defense, poisons and antidotes and politics at an earlier age than their cousins and siblings.
Shing Kong's offices*+x - Where Shing did his work, both legal and questionably legal, and kept his important documents and information. Two separate offices are held in here since he and Dao-Ming often worked together with her owning the office that's tucked away in a corner. Many of Shing's journals are here hidden from view in bookcases or safes but some are hidden around the Spades Castle. Locked since his death and Dao-Ming has forbidden people to touch them during her mourning. Still hasn't lifted the ban.
Andrea’s rooms*+ - Where Andrea lived before in the apartments she left. This is where she went after she turned eight and was forced to move out from her parents’ room at the start of her education. She had a bedroom, bathroom and study room for herself. This was also an attempt to keep her isolated from the other Deck children. Since her abandonment, the rooms have been locked and Shing and Dao-Ming have forbidden anyone from using them.
