And a Happy New Year!

Jan 01, 2018 09:03

Welcome to 2018, followers of the Gregorian calendar! I spent my New Year's Eve fighting off kidney stones, but they passed just after midnight, so I'll take that as a good omen for the New Year. Because I'm optimistic like that.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

About what I would have predicted, given my health woes this year. It sapped a lot of my creativity and I'm only just getting it back. I'm actually surprised I managed over 20,000 words. Go me!

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2015?

Nothing surprising this year. Everything I've written for I've written before. I have to admit my previous fandoms I've either moved on from or am way behind on, so inspiration is a bit thin these days.

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?

"Cut Off At the Knees" was a challenge because I'd never tried to write from Wolfe's POV before and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I'm also happy with 'Good Old Boys' because it got the exact feel I was aiming for when I started on it.

What's your least favorite story of the year, regardless of the reviews it got (or didn't get)?

'Vampire Outreach Service' was too long and a bit wandering. I was trying out world-building and character development in an entirely original universe, so that's to be expected. It's not horrific, but I think it could better, even if I'm happy with the characters I created for it.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?

Nope, no risks this year. Maybe next year.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?

Just keep writing whatever hits me in the head and hope for the best. My only vague goal is to try to get some stories up at A03 when I have the energy for it. I'm behind in posting there, and it always makes me a little nervous to post outside of LJ. The rest of the internet is meaner than here. :p

Hope everyone has a lovely, happy, healthy and safe 2018! I know 2017 was a stressful year for many of us, here's to a better year for those who need one!
