“No, we've discussed how if I can't physically hear what you're saying, I can't know it's been said,” John replied.
Hee hee hee, poor John.
I like how Sherlock did his absolute best to try to figure out the cipher himself before going to his “consultant.” The “that’s it” moment when Sherlock finally throws in the towel was wonderful.
And of course Sherlock deleted precisely how old Trevelyan is.
It was very interesting to see Sherlock as someone's child, because, for the first time, John saw him in a beta instead of an alpha role.
Yes, I agree-and it’s interesting to see Sherlock actually craving approval and hating to have made any mistakes in his code-breaking. It just shows how much respect he has for his father. (And agreeing that Siger was scary, awwww!!)
This was a great AU of an AU. It does make me so sad that Siger passed away, though. What a wonderful resource and partner (and mentor, perhaps) Sherlock lost.

I know! I hesitated a bit in writing it for that reason, but having created Siger, I actually grew quite fond of him and was sad I'd killed him off. At least he still has Mummy, and Mycroft and Q (even he'd probably trade the latters in).
I'm glad you enjoyed the story, at least. Thanks for commenting! I always enjoy seeing a comment from you. :-)

It's interesting to see a Sherlock whose father is still alive. He's still the same Sherlock in terms of his quirks. Case in point: “Why didn't you tell me you had another brother?” John asked.
“I don't know,” Sherlock said. “Presumably because it wasn't relevant to any conversation we've had.”
That's SO Sherlock.
But he seems...friendlier if that's the word. And in some ways more emotionally present, like in the way he was worried about not being wrong in front of his father. It's sweet and sort of sad knowing what Sherlock looks like in a world where his dad is gone.
A lovely AU. I highly encourage AUing of AUs. Don't worry about breaking the laws of reality. It's fun!!
