39th Wheel of Fate [Action]

[Those passing through the plaza today might find themselves noticing something rather... odd placed near the fountain.

Apparently, someone - presumably the Malnosso - has decided to place a treasure chest next to the fountain. And not just any: this particular treasure chest seems to be large enough that it could hold quite the large amount of ( Read more... )

[Mega Man's walking through the square, casually, just going to the store. When he spots that treasure chest. Granted, he knows about the experiment going on. But... honestly, his Digger's mentality of finding treasure overrides his caution for experiments. After all, it's been harmless so far, right?]

All right! Treasure!

[Like a dope, he runs right over to the treasure chest...]

[And he pops open the lid. What's inside, anyway?!]

[...Not the normal kind of treasure, that's for sure. No, rather, he'll find himself faced with a sleeping, silver-haired girl... albeit one that's clinging to a black sling bag as if her life depended on it or something. What exactly is she doing in there? Who knows. The Malnosso have a weird sense of humor sometimes, after all.

He... may want to be a little cautious about this one, though. She's a light sleeper - odds are high that she'll wake up soon, now that she's actually exposed to light, not to mention that the sound of the chest opening likely didn't go unnoticed, either. And some people react pretty badly when woken, don't they? Especially if the one responsible is a complete stranger...]

[...Huh? It's... a girl? Mega Man starts back when he realizes this, but quickly looks in. He didn't get a look at her for long to even see if she was breathing. Honestly, the thought doesn't occur to him that Nu might be at all dangerous, just that she might be in danger.]

Oh no... hey, are you all right?

[He... looks really worried for her, at least.]

[There's no immediate vocal response, though the girl does seem to react a little to that question. It's not long before her eyes open, accompanied by quiet but audible murmuring.]

Loading... Loading... Loading... Complete. [With that said, she sits up, looking at Mega Man. Was he the one she heard just now? If the readings she's getting from her scanners are any indication, he's not exactly human, but... he's also not someone she's seen in the village before.]

Who...? [...Looks like his own question is going to go unanswered in favor of her own confusion. There's still a hint of caution in her otherwise emotionless voice, but it's a little more subtle than usual, at least.]

[When she sits up and speaks, he breathes a deep sigh of relief. Though that whole "loading" thing? That was kind of weird, but he's not really concerned about it for the moment.]

Oh good, you're alive! Thank goodness! I don't know how you ended up in here, but I'm glad you're okay. My name's Mega Man. [He pauses. Just because she can sit and speak doesn't mean everything is fine.] ...You're not hurt or anything are you?

["Thank goodness"? And... he's glad that she's okay? What. She's never even met this person before. Why would he be concerned?]

Understood. Subject identified as Mega Man. [...Strange name, but not too unusual in a place like this. She pauses for a moment, as if contemplating how to answer that question.]

...All systems within operational levels. [She... seems to be fine, if that's any indication. There's no currently visible injuries on her, either, so... yeah, she's most likely fine.]

[...Guess she might be some kind of robot girl? ...And that eyepatch reminds him distinctly of a Reaverbot eye. It's a little off-putting at first, but she hasn't attacked him yet, so...]

That's good. Glad everything's... working, I guess! Do you need a hand?

[She doesn't answer immediately, and if Mega Man's paying attention to her expression, he might notice it briefly shifting to one of mild confusion.]

...No. [She's fine on her own, and she'd rather not rely on a complete stranger, anyway, even if this one doesn't seem to be human... and almost seems kind of friendly so far. It's a bit surprising for her, really.]

All right. I haven't seen you around before, actually. What's your name?

[...Because he is friendly. And pretty much everything about him, his tone, his body language, his expression, screams it. Really, that armor aside, there's nothing to indicate he's anything other than your average teenage hero. ...Nu might be able to detect that the armor on his left arm can form into a blaster, but overall his threat level would still be low compared to someone like her.

Nevertheless, it's clear he has no intention of using that weapon on her.]

[Her name? Well...]

Existence description... Dimensional boundary contact prime field number 13 Anti-Sankishin core unit, Nu. [Normally, she'd at least try not to mention her designation, since it often tends to throw people off, but right now, she doesn't really care much about that. And that blaster-arm armor certainly doesn't go unnoticed, but as long as he doesn't use it against her, she'll simply remain as cautious as she always is.]

...Wow. Um. Is it okay if I just call you "Nu?"

[ ... ]

Affirmative. [That's... what pretty much everyone calls her, anyway. Hearing someone actually refer to her with her entire designation would probably be a little strange at this point.]
