32nd Wheel of Fate [Voice]

[With the start of a new year - not to mention New Year's Eve passing again - and the cold weather, someone's been going a little stir-crazy lately. ...Mostly that middle statement, though. That's the second time that New Year's Eve has occurred since her awakening, and yet again what was supposed to happen didn't transpire.

It's starting to make ( Read more... )

Actually... I found the solution to a goal of mine from back home that can only be applied here.

[Her tone is wry.] Strange, how things turn out sometimes, hm?

...Eh? [Okay, that is not an answer she expected to hear at all. A solution that can only be applied here...?]

[She gives a soft chuckle.] I know it may sound a little strange, but it's the truth.

...I see. [This is admittedly making her extremely curious, but... hm.

...Well, she might as well. There's going to be a brief moment of silence, and then-]

[Filtered 98%]

What... was your goal? [If the solution to it is something that can only be applied here, she really wants to know just what it is that Litchi was trying to accomplish.]

[There's a bit of a pause before Litchi answers, her tone low.]

...I was trying to find a cure for something that cost one of my dearest friends everything he had. I swore that I would find a way to get things back to how they were before, but... I never expected to find it here, of all places.

[A cure for one of her dearest friends, huh... She's curious as to what the cure she found is, but there's something else about this that catches her attention.]

Is... he the one you mentioned before? [The one whose birthday passed on April 1st. It sounds like he might be, but asking for a confirmation can't hurt.]

[Litchi gives a soft 'hmm.']

...He is. I'm impressed you remembered that.

...I see. [So she guessed right, then.]

What... is the cure you discovered?

...The Malnosso. They can stop the erosion effect that weathered him away.

[Pause.] Although, to be honest, I'm not sure how well it would work for him. [Not much left that hasn't been eroded, after all. She's not sure if he could ever recover half as well as she did, especially considering how much weaker she feels now.]

Erosion...? [She has a feeling that she may know what Litchi's referring to, but she figures it's better to inquire about this sort of thing. Just in case her guess is wrong.]

Yes. [Even though this is already filtered, her voice drops lower. It's a habit.]

...I'm sure you know what happens to those who delve too far into the Boundary.

Affirmative. [Humans can't survive in the Boundary - that's why boundary contact mediums like her exist. And those who do try to delve into it find their body and mind deteriorating as a result of the Boundary's effects on them, with death as the inevitable result.

...Even for someone like her, it's not hard to guess where this is going.]

I thought you would. [And thank heaven, because explaining it is never easy. Her own theories on the Boundary don't help anything, especially since testing them ends with... this.]

...That was what I lost him to. [And lost herself, as well, although that was temporary. Thanks, Malnosso!]

...I see. [And if that's what she lost him to... He definitely interacted with the Boundary at some point. A human, interacting with the Boundary... She's not surprised that something like this happened as a result, honestly.]
