family friend foe

we all need a good close friend
or maybe truckloads of them
cos we'd wanna tell them
everything on whatever's going on.
but being any closer
would just destroy that feeling
cos we'd not wanna tell
anything beyond the surface of things.

we'd already have told our good close friends
and there really isn't any point telling those closer
that closeness is but only in name
the warmth is skin deep.
just take me as your good friend and no more
cos i wanna hear what's going on in your life
and not indirectly from others
but personally.
